Problem with Korg Volca Sample

Hi! I Have a problem with my Volca Sample.
When I bought my first volca sample, I found it had some tonal sound constantly going along with the noise in the headphones. Somewhat I know this is not normal. I gave this device and took the same other one. With the new device everything was fine, but on the third day of use this sound appeared again. The sound is like a hum. When recording it is not very audible, but in the headphones low-impedance well-catch. What is this?

Are you running from Batteries or AC adapter? You could trying the opposite to test if there is a difference in noise level.

Volca synths are great! But they can be noisy little bastages. I’ve heard this of Volca Keys in particular. Maybe you’d find an easier answer on the Korg forums.

  • I used only headphones. Power from battery.

try using AC adapter, they are noisy in general and battery running out of power can effect these little buggers. Like @kinkujin mentioned Korg Forum can also help.

  • Yeah, sorry, hope it isn't a hardware defect of some kind. But as others have noted, there is some noise associated with these and other entry-level analog synths. (Probably some expensive ones, too). I would describe it more as a "hiss" than a "hum" though.

  • After being used to 'noise-free' synths (iOS apps thru the UR-242) it takes time to adjust to somewhat 'noisy' hardware like the UNO Synth(it's mostly low level hiss easily reduced with -20db pad on the UR-242).

The problem I have with most headphones that they sometimes reveal too much that really doesn't matter when looking at the whole picture.(ie. the playback volume on speakers would need to be cranked to insane levels for them even to be audible).

    If it's 'hum' it's ground-noise issue...
