Pretty sure Jim (GR-16) is going to get better because of this... Competition is a good thing..
Song Mode , Easy key/scale transpose.. IAP packs... (Blocs Wave on steroids)..

    Let the games begin..

Welp...this app just keeps inspiring me to do some quick jams...here's something a little bit more up tempo than what I usually do....so far this app is a lot of fun to explore and experiment with. I can definitely see areas of improvement, but for a 1.0, it is very solid and approachable and usable...really digging it:

Sound-wise, even more can be done with Gadget plus iWavestation (Milpitas).
But I know it's not new and it does not trigger GAS :#

I don't think you can, err, 'scrub wavetables' (for lack of a better term)? I never got it but it seemed more about jumping between wavs than exploring the sweet spots within them.

Indeed that's true, maye I'm too exotic to get any great feeling out of scrubbing EDM wavetables :D

This is my last gasp to convince the other geezers I work with that I am hip and cool. I think I finally made my way up to Psytrance Warrior. Up next, Dubstep Wizard. Are those EDMs?

Well, finally had a chance to play with it a bit...and while it's not 100% understood, I did enjoy the process of building this up and hearing it come thru the headphones.

Will continue to push on it to see how it fits into my workflow. This looks like a great little app and I hope it grows and evolve as nicely as Gadget has over the years.

    Anyhoo...less talk...more playing :)

where are these clicks coming from?
sounds like there is no intelligent voice stealing

Yes, the envelopes are restarting without ramping down the last voice. I hope they fix this as you can create some nice ambient pad sounds. Very good sounding synth in this.

Are you still having this issue? Seems to be ok with me now 🙂

That’s strange. It’s still happening with mine ( version 1.0.1)

Still got the clicking here too. It is worse when setting synth to MONO.

Man I just tried it in mono and the clicking is really out of control.

  • I am having trouble getting it to play / record while using it inside a host app like AUM or AB3, and using the remote hosts transport buttons.

I load in AUM and click record, nothing happens
    Same thing in AB3.

    What’s the trick?

I have link enabled and listen for start/stop commands enabled. I also don’t have tempo locked, but nothing works unless I hit the play button within ELWV

I can only speak about AUM, I don’t believe the latest version of link has been implemented yet. It’s on the list for a future AUM update.

Have you bought it yet Boss? I am tempted by this one, even though the thought of spending 20 quid on something I might not be using in a weeks time gives me the heebie-jeebies.

I think Grooverider is a great bit of work and I think Jim has done a beyond good job with it. Personally, in the end, I realized I admired it rather than enjoyed it and was finding it hard to visualize what I was doing. This is no knock on the program, just a matter of how my head works. I slid far more quickly into this new thing and am enjoying it. Will it get the extras it probably needs to be utterly top notch? Dunno. If Jim was in charge it would. Korg? Who knows? I have. In the real world my advice would be to pop over and borrow mine whenever you want, but in the world we find ourselves constrained by my instinct is to wait and see.....how much more will it be in a month or two? And there will be sales. Wait and see how the mop flops. No apps (at this point) are worth the heebie-jeebie worries over AND there'll be more 20 quids to spend no doubt in the next ten minutes AND it'll still be there when you're good and ready.

I just consoled myself with 15 sublime minutes in Gestrument Pro beta. This app makes it so easy to create something crushingly beautiful that it really feels like cheating. Like big, big, big cheating.

What extras do you think it needs? I guess sample import/playing would be one, but then again that limitation might make me get on with music making, rather than fiddling about. Though it’d be good to replace the tedious ‘yo’ type vocal hits it seems to come with.

I’m currently finding my way through a Maschine controller/Maschine/Komplete combo, so have enough new things to keep me entertained. But still, a new Korg thing....

I kinda think that GR-16 is more like an Elektron box now then an electribe. Sooo much more you can do with the GR-16 (besides the obvious wavetables), but it takes time to get under it's hood.

  • I think that's a good point. I've been intrigued by GR-16 since it came out, not the least because Jim is always updating it and interacting with people here. But at the end of the day it's based on more or less the same workflow as the E2, which I had owned and previously sold based on it just not being a workflow I bonded with. Lots of possibities there, but it's definitely set up like an electribe so that has to be your thing to get the most out of it.

  • I rested GR16 for quite a while. Coming back to it has been a revelation, yet I still couldn’t stop myself buying the Korg one.

I like them both, but at the end of the day, all this app dabbling makes me master none of them lol

It's always possible to create loops or sounds with Electribe Wave and use those with GR16.

You don't even need to do that as both can be synced over MIDI :)

Trying AB + GR16 + KEW + Patterning 2. Seems stable so far. Will just have to see if my Air2 can handle it all when I have some more tracks built up
