Thanks Doug... Not that impressed by the sound either . Like Gadget and these sounds will become dated 5-6 yrs from now
I'm more intrigued by the fact that they are using the Electribe label for a new product. I've always had a soft spot for their hardware range of Electribes and I hope we'll see them go back to it at some point.
Yeah just like the tb303, tr909, tr808, juno6, yamaha cs10, waldorf microwave, virus, alesis andromeda, dsi prophet....etc etc.
I mean come on....it's a synth, you can make your own sounds.
But the presets are rather dated already yes...
Yes, you can set individual note lengths in the sequencer.
I dont like that Korg re-used many of those (already cheesy) vocal samples from Gadget.
To build a song, do you really have to press the + and scroll down to add user patterns for every single pattern...?
Doug- is this the huge thing that you mentioned that was coming out a few weeks back? If not is it out yet?
That can be done yes...
There's also a 'fill' button that extends to note to the next one.
I think it's something 'bigger' from a 'bigger' player, maybe Ableton or NI but since @thesoundtestroom is under NDA we'll likely not to get any reply on this one
I not sure on the technical side here but Electribe Wave appears as an app generator with no multiple ports shown in AUM meaning no option for separate outs (in AUM) in this current build which I believe is a missed opportunity for Korg. This is my finding and maybe there is a way around this.
It plays nicely. Just bounce the needed tracks to audio files and load them up in AUM file-player or something and process them as much as you like
(The bounced stuff shows up in FIles.app for easy moving to Audioshare or just about any other place).
There will never be fully perfect apps that fit every single persons 'flow' as each persons 'flow' is different.
Just like everyone's got an a-hole they have their own flow too
No but I’m not near my iPad now to explain
It was ironic, that „nicely“. Wasn‘t it?
🤔
Because it is KORG, it was predictable, that multi-outs are not within...
From Doug’s vid and reading the manual I can’t find other options. Hopefully there’s an fast/easy way too.
From the page that shows patterns (A,B,C etc). You can play back patterns continuously by tapping on them to get the feel and then there’s a button upper right to add to song. Don’t have iPad in front of me for better description.
How does ot compare to grooverider ? Gr never clicked for me
Hmmm, not for me. Was on the fence, but I prefer things that really let me build from the ground up. No user samples cuts this short, though I realize in the end that it's all what you do with what you have, not necessarily the raw materials. Just not into the sound set, as I am not the typical EDM music maker (whatever that means). Still... I assume that they might offer user import as an IAP later. Seems like GR-16 has it beat for now...
I find the workflow in this app to be top notch. Song creation is easy - press the + button and scroll to choose your pattern but this is Korg so in the scroll list you have short cuts to banks of patterns A, B, C etc., Then if you want to set mutes for each pattern.
Interesting. Haven't got to play with yet (work, life, grrr) but import
Can you control mutes/unmutes or pattern changes with external MIDI?
Wow, that opening demo song made me wince with pain, I love it when they make it an easy choice.
So far my impression is that it is way easier, seems to have more appealing 'big features' and has fewer micro-level features. It seems to be a much better commute/half asleep performance leaning friendly fun box with less navigation overhead than GR. The navigation and automation/modulation is it's strength. So much easier to find those narrow little 'sweet spots/happy accidents' that seem to be so much of what sound design is about (again, for me, I am no synth guru). Really loving it as a friend for BM3. Not sure how I would fair with it completely by itself as using both the insert and master fx together is really where it springs to life for me. Right now I pretty much don't feel the need to go beyond two sounds with it. In the end that was my expectation, for it to be a flexible realtime instrument for BM3, working alongside Synthmaster One and Egoist etc etc and what I wanted from GR but never got.
PS. Stylistically the demo songs are irrelevant aside from simple audio fidelity which gets a decent passing grade, particularly ProQ2ed and FXed in BM3.
Thanks.. we do need iMaschine 3.., or Ableton Live iOS... 😎
I'd be happy with 'GarageBand Pro' or 'Logic Lite' with support for AUv3 Midi, AUv3 Automation and proper editing of the recorded automation data. I guess we'll have to wait until iOS12 is out for the GarageBand update.
I wonder how much longer will we have to wait for Doug’s hint to materialize.. lots of game changing stuff will be happening in the coming weeks... Looking forward to midi recording....live..
I suck at playing live so I would love to see a way to manually edit the clips in the app...
Got any more hints?
(iOS12 is ~2-3 weeks away)
