Anyone used an FCB1010 with a behringer xr18 mixer and loopy?
Does anyone use an xr18 mixer for music making? I bought it for live sound but it is actually an audio interface as well!! I thought I’d try using my XR18 midi’d to the FCB1010.....nothing. Doesn’t even show up in loopy and yes it is class compliant!?
I did manage to control loopy using the FCB midi’d with an alesis IO dock. I spent ages setting bindings to the different pedals using loopy and was ever so proud of myself lol. However, the audio on the alesis is dodgy so that’s when I decided to use the XR18. To be honest it’s overkill and the interface is on the iPad. I use the iPad for enough apps already lol. I’m thinking of getting an iConnect audio 4+ but the XR18 will have to do for now.
The other problem I’m having is I don’t think my settings were saved on the FCB when I used it with loopy and the IO dock. It’s there a way to save banks on the FCB using just the peddleboard?

Pretty sure I've used my FCB1010 with my XR18 - I think I had it controlling Group The Loop rather than Loopy on that occasion - but it should work just as well with Loopy.
You can program the 1010 fairly easily - you navigate to the band/preset you want to edit and hold the down bank button for 3 seconds or so.. then you can select the various PC, CC and Note messages you want to send. (I usually turn off the PCs and use notes as then I can make "Hold" bindings as well as "Press" bindings.) It's probably good to look at the manual to brush up on the process!!
As I'm sure you know there are 10 banks of 10 switches you can set up.

Thanks for replying chuck but my question wasn’t how to program the FCB hehe. It was how to save the settings you’ve set up in a bank. I’ve watched the YouTube tutorials and they are anything but easy to program. I’ll try the PC software next but it’s a faff to take all my stuff downstairs! It’s fairly easy using loopy though But my bindings haven’t saved!
You're right though.....RTFM lol. I spend most of my life reading manuals so if I can get away without doing so I will!!!
Interesting that you got the xr18 working with group the loop but Like I said it’s not showing up in loopy. Had no joy using a focusrite 18i20 either. I have had nothing but problems with iPad music making for years so I’m seriously considering just using ableton on a macbook pro with a push 2...or....Getting a TC HELICON voicelive. Way more expense though....
When I see you guys doing all this amazing stuff with iPads though, it makes me want to keep trying. I must’ve spent 150 quid on music apps so it’d be a shame not to use ‘em.
For anyone who is interested...I found the answer on the behringer forum. Thanks to a chap called John Baker.
"Are you trying to control Ableton Live like this: FCB1010 ---midi--->XR18--->usb---> Ableton Live?
The XR does not allow you to pass-through MIDI data received via the DIN port out the USB port. I think this feature was promised, but has not yet been delivered. So, currently, you can't control the XR via MIDI and pass the data through without an external MIDI splitter placed before the XR.
If you're just trying to control the XR with the FCB1010, that should work OK. Check your MIDI output using a MIDI monitor utility to make sure the right commands are being sent to help troubleshoot."
