Reason Compact Feature Requests

I think that most of you who have tried out Reason Compact agree that it is a little too compact for most music-making purposes. The Reason Compact team plans to add more devices and features in the future. Let's offer them our advice on which features to prioritize. Here is my list--

Multiple tracks and mixer

MIDI in

Drum sampler

General sampler (like NN-19)

Reverb and delay send effects on the mixer

More scale options for the keyboard (chromatic, in particular)

More loop lengths (16-bar, 32-bar)

Horizontal piano roll

I suppose that you can export the Europa patch to save it, but that's a rather odd way to manage user presets.

  • Add Automation to that list.

  • I would love a Compact version of Reason desktop :)

  • Umpf Club Drums would be a welcome addition.

    +1
How can it be Reason anything with no automation? It’s nearly as ridiculous as having a Groovebox without automation. Crazy ain’t it.

😄 just got this- says it all.

But you can’t reimport into Reason Compact

  • I would like to bring my Europa patches into the app.

While that could discourage some from buying the app's sound packs, it might encourage others to upgrade their newly acquired Reason Lite license to the full program. And it might encourage more people to spring for the $9.99 IAP to unlock the Europa engine.

  • Without automation and save / export of presets, it’s too basic for me to think of buying as it is.

This is a very strange limitation. Surely the Europa IAP should give users the option to save their patches.

  • I understand that Propellerhead want to encourage Reason Compact users to get the desktop version of Reason, but Reason Compact should still be able to stand on its own as a complete product.

  • Midi in
    Automation
Preset saving is a must before they do anything else.

  • Ugh... wish I never got Stockholm had I known they would release this and probably abandon Gadget. Hope I’m proven wrong.

  • I am getting a little weirded out by the process here. Are the Propeller guys and the Amplify guys in bed on this one? The whole (de facto) notion of 'Don't let them save new sounds. We don't want to encourage them to tweak when they can buy,...' seems too obviously small-minded.....may I prove to be utterly wrong.

  • Being in this place of unknown does not motivate to spend and unlock the synth.
„We are looking into it“ is not good business ;)

As it is, this ain’t gonna encourage many folks to get the desktop Reason. More people would’ve been encouraged by a full, AUv3 version of Europa. Propellerhead could’ve sold it for £30 and still made money selling presets on the side.

I actually think Propellerhead looked at Ampify’s Groovebox and thought they’d like a slice of the preset-pack-selling cake. It’s just a shame they seem to have missed an opportunity to make something exciting and useful to attract potential Reason desktop users.

  • Shouldn't this be posted on the Appropriate PH forum?

  • I think I’m going to stop buying apps until Nanostudio 2 comes out. I hope it’s soon.

  • Ok I’ve gotten in the boat. I made a sound I wanted to save so I exported it to Beatmaker3 and it saves it as a wav. file...midi it up and it works,Sunvox also saves it as a wav. File
    At least that’s something :)

For the moment export the sound you want to Beatmaker3, it saves it as a wav. file then you may share it to Audioshare...viola
By the way use the sound file option in the exporting not the Europa sound patch ;)
Also important is to first record your sound patch you have created. I hit record, press down on a C note for four bars for example, then export it as a soundfile to Beathawk3 which saves it as a wav. file, I midi up my Korg keyboard and it works like a charm. Also save your sound in Audioshare app...hope this helps

Unfortunately, Propellerhead got rid of their forums years ago. There is an unofficial forum on ReasonTalk, but I get the impression that there are not very many mobile users there.

I think the problem is the name of this app. If it was called Europa synth then there would not be as much disappointment. I think Propellerhead calling this app Reason Compact was a bad move as it’s left a lot with false expectations.

On the other hand maybe this app being called Reason Compact is a clue that Propellerhead will build on this and make it a Reason for iOS.

  • I would like to see at least 4 tracks, drums included, and a scene sequencer like Groovebox the only difference being that I would like to have different sound presets and settings PER SCENE, rather than global, that way the track limit won’t be such a big deal. Also, automation recording. That would turn it into a pretty kickass little groovebox, like Figure Pro or something.

Also, it would be great if, when chord mode is activated, anything new you record replaces what was already in the sequencer when the events coincide, iKaossilator style.

This app has been widely discussed at Reason Talk, in fact.

  • Yup sadly there’s no way at the moment to save new presets within the app

Um i would like for reason compact to be reason, not groovebox, which sucks!

Maybe give us a version similar to reason lite with full synth engines and sequencing and groove quantize and 4-8 audio tracks...shit sell devices as iap!

That thing you put out is NOT reason! And if you keep on with it as it is now, you are doomed imho.

Scrolling to all the engine parts is shit, its why people dont like like grainscience. Top to bottom sequencing is just NO. Your main person in charge dpesnt do music and its telling. In fact, have they used Reason at all?

  • Sample pack previews.
    Multiple tracks / instruments.
    Midi.

  • Also I hate auto save
