Just opened up Auxy to see what’s new..
Always enjoyed this app and the stem export and MIDI export are a great phone compliment to BM3. Love the sequencer and it’s so well defined for iPhone composition. Didn’t open it in a good while though..
HOLY SHIT! That is a LOT of new sound packs!!!!
Comments
YUP!
Same here
Freaky
Yesterday out of no where I was like well I have all the sound packs.....
Great fucking app.
Remember when it had midi out?
I love the app
iN faKt
SUSPICIOUSLY SIMILAR TO REASON IOS SYNTH RELEASE ON THE PIANO ROLL......
Sychte had update with bunch of IAP may be of interest.
Little steep if you ask me.
I supported him day 1 and bought it so kind of lame that now $20 worth of presets and filter and wave edit stuff.....
Kind of should be part of the out of box.
Not gonna sell more with all those IAP looming to someone who can get more reasonable alternative.
Still no midi channels omni only
BUT I THINK IF HE CHANGES PRICES ON NEW OFFERS THE APP MAY TAKE OFF
Just so hard to leave Nave and Posden
Back to AUXY
Yeah I love Universal.
Just wish IAA so didn't need mixer or iDAM headache....
Even though I’m not a fan of the subscription model, I made an exception for Auxy because it’s great for a quick sketch. I’ve also done some full pieces by exporting stems and finishing in AUM. Quite fun.
Yeah, I fought with iPhone music workflow for a long time and eventually deleted everything apart from Auxy. Isolated workflow with good export functionality is a perfect fit for me. I don’t even have the subscription as I have a few soundpacks and that’s enough for me to sketch. MIDI export into BM3 when I’m with my main equipment. I may go for a subscription at a later date for the many high quality sounds that I can export and resampling in BM3.
Same here, lol. The monthly subscription price costs less than the original price of some of those IAP sample packs and costs FAR LESS than the licensed drum packs they've been releasing. (I.E. Leviathan 2 ($99) was released right when Auxy went subscription, and Neurofunk ($34.99) was just released a couple days ago.) And the speed at which I can plunk out a tune is insanely quick, and the sounds are so well blended, not too much else is required when mixing down the exported stems.
If Auxy had live recording, it would be all I use.
It's definitely the fastest thing I've ever used, like getting an idea out of your head and into some workable form is lightning quick. I would have loved to see what the midi out was like (I started using it when it went universal which is way after the OG app was discontinued). There's just some really questionable limitations that prevent me from fully embracing it (namely, 10s sample limit, basic synthesis would be nice and more controls over parameters). I know a lot of people rag on the subscription but there's a STUPID amount of content in there, and agreed with @jwmmakerofmusic the sound that you get out of it natively is pretty darn good, like to the point where I hear what some people in the community are doing with ZERO post processing and it's pretty damn impressive.
Bastards costing me Friday pocket money over here....
@icsleepers
Automation can add a lot. Especially the Tone and Shape controls.
@JohnnyGoodyear
You’re welcome!
@anickt Yeah I know, I mean, I want like more FX and stuff. Not to mention the controls are arbitrary, the mysteriousness of the sounds and controls can be cute and all but sometimes I just want to straight up know what kind of control I'm applying to a sound. A lot of things are not automatable that I'd like to be automatable too. But hey, maybe in time.
I hear you. That’s why I often export simple stems and annihilate them in AUM!
I find I don’t miss fx when the under the hood multi band compression makes it easy to get really nice layers. I mean really you can get away with nothing more than two melodic instruments layered and playing polyphonic stuff. Automate those and it’s gold. Genius audio engine really
I did this myself a couple weeks back, thought I'd give Auxy another chance as it had been my favorite app before they went to the subscription model. Sadly for me it was still an exercise in frustration now that we can't easily switch kits, and they no longer have kit level controls (or at least as many as they used to). Plus I always found the decoupled pattern automation a step backwards from the previous, brilliant, transition knob before. All in all it went from being something that was so quick and easy for me to use to get nice sounding song ideas started, to something I just found frustrating to use knowing how it had been before.
I wasn't even upset at the subscription model and had come to terms with that, but the change to the feature set just wasn't enough to hold my attention compared to say Groovebox. Bummer, it was such and awesome app for me at one point.
As soon as they switched to subscription, I deleted it. I refuse to support that revenue model. Too many other options to deal with monthly extortion.
This could be an awesome app. Subscriptionmodel kills it...
I hate subscription as much as the next guy but I honestly feel like the subscription for the app is an absolute bargain and WAY better value than when they were selling soundpacks.
I still prefer the old Auxy on iPad for very simple sketching, but Gadget's piano roll has mostly replaced it.
For the time I've been using Korg Gadget plus several Gadget IAPs by now I would have paid about the same amount for the Auxy subscription, yet there's no comparison.
Gadget is so insanely more powerful yet easy & quick to use ... to me at least.
@anickt : Great tip, thanks!
