Foglings Covers EP - with my first iOS creations

Our drummer told us he was moving. And we didn't have a full set of original songs to record before he left. So we recorded some of the covers that we'd been throwing into our sets.

In the meantime, the remaining band members started a drum and bass machine quest from iOS. Our future recordings are going to have a lot more iOS instruments. Current jams have mostly Ruismaker drums, Tera synth basses.

So these are mostly vocal, drum, bass, guitar. But we added some synths and percussion here and there from what we found in our early exploration of iOS music making. I have a ton of VST synths, and even a few analog machines. But part of my preference in all this is to run synths through guitar or bass amps. I guess it is just years of doing it that way, incorporating into otherwise guitar based bands. But I almost care about that more than analog oscs and filters like some people. So that is another thing that is convenient about the iPad as an external instrument.

iOS usage of note.
Words. originally by Low.
Some Icegear synth pads on the interlude parts, some Tera bass at the end. Axon 2 drums on the second interlude.

Hurt, originally by NIN
Tera noise on the verses.

There is a little on We are Unhappy too. Lower in the mix though.

  • @Multicellular Great covers here and very well recorded/performed. My favourite was your version of Words which I thought was better than the original. Great vocal sound and also loved the guitar.

Thank you. That was fun to record. My easier natural range is pretty low, but been working on the baritone notes. The falsetto on the chorus, ha, that was me joking in the car, but dudes were like...”seriously do it.”
