In AUM what is “AUM Destination?

I did go thru the help manual, but found no mention of it. Just not sure when this would be used and what for.

It’s AUM’s own “Virtual Midi Port”. So, if you’re in another app and set it to output to AUM, then in AUM that midi would be coming in on “AUM Destination”.

It’s confusing because apps can (usually) be set to output from their own virtual port - in which case you would select the app by name as the input in AUM. Or, they can be set to output to a specific other app such as AUM - in which case you select “AUM Destination” as the input in AUM.

I prefer to set a specific destination in apps where possible. This helps to prevent apps that listen everywhere from picking up midi they shouldn’t.

  • @wim - thanks - sorta what I had imagined, but couldn’t get it all together. Will try using now with a little better idea 🍺
