  • 3 songs in and digging it.

Very retro in the best sense.

Total use of arpeggio in the most creative way while really showcasing the synth sounds!

    Well done!

    Nice and clean.

I actually had my audio of MacBook running through a channel with Turnado in it and had some even cooler versions of your stuff with some Turnado added by accident!

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Digging this ! Following.
    Love ios music !

  • Thanks guys!

  • @gregsmith Two things:

There's certainly a unifying sound or vibe to each track, which I think is cool as hell. There's these moods and spaces the parts of some songs evoke that are then recalled in another track that's using different instruments, sounds, etc. I hope I'm explaining it, because it's beyond just saying "oh it's a concept record". The track are cool individually but played as a whole, it's really excellent.

Second, the drum sounds have so much presence and are bravely mixed forward...very punchy and in your face. Some of the reverb & delays on the drums were kickass, as is the bandpass or other filter (?) used on some of cymbals.

Overall the EP is really strong, I enjoyed it brother.

  • Insta-follow

    Tight stuff, mate

  • Great stuff mate, insta-follow from me as well.

Would love some insight into your workflow if you are comfortable talking about it. What synths and apps are you using? What about your daw, what are you composing in?

Great EP, cranking it through my speakers here at home

Thanks so much for taking the time to write such detailed feedback. Means a lot.

Thanks! So I composed and produced it all in FLSM. The tracks are built from a mixture of samples (some created myself in Caustic) and the built in FLSM synths. The synths are really flexible and the ability to create a stack of instruments and fx on each track allows for really detailed sound design. I found I was able to recreate most sounds I liked from other synth apps and songs by slowly building layers and tweaking the settings. It’ll be a lot easier if/when they add AU however!

Composing etc took about 2 months, but mixing down took about 4 months as I was learning as I went along. I have a 30 min walk to work each morning, so listened to all the tracks, tweaking them a small amount each day until I was happy. I then tested on speakers, in the car, and my better headphones at home a couple of times a week.

I finally used Grand Finale for mastering. Again this was an iterative process as I was learning by trial and error and I had to go back to the mix stage on a few tracks to solve some issues.

    Glad you’re enjoying it!

  • Really enjoyed this; especially the first and last tracks. Definitely sounds like the soundtrack to some future-retro sci-fi movie!

  • Alone is the pick for me. Punchy and atmospheric. Nice work.

Thanks that’s just what I was going for.
