AU sample player?

Looking for a AU app that plays samples from its own library (not making my own). Something like thumb jam, roland canvas, sample tank etc
-thx.

  • BeatHawk. Overkill in many ways, but the best IAP sound packs around, and definitely can be used as an AUv3 sound module and ignoring all the other features. I use it for acoustic drums, fabulous piano, and mellotron stuff all the time.

  • The next update to the $15 @VirSyn AudioLayer One will probably be ideal for you if they include the SFZ importer they are using to make Libraries for the product. They have EXS24 import now. (I can't find a lot of free SFZ libraries but the SFZ feature set is a better fit I think with their capabilites in AL).

AudioLayer has some other issue related to iCloud storage that make it hard if not impossible to use in it's current form but that should also be addressed.

No idea when the update will drop but I'd expect 2-4 weeks.

In the meantime spend $10-100 on BeatHawk and their excellent IAP packages or iSymphonic. Both typically require making a MIDI track and freezing it to audio before making any more, IMHO. Which I find to be "bloatware" and a broken AUv3 use case. AudioLayer is our best hope in the short term for this request.

Of course, your use of "Sampler" and mine could be at odds in which case you might need features close to the BeatMaker or the Audio Slice n' Dice, Mangle, Glitch, Stretch and Retch'ers that Ableton provides for current Producers. I just don't understand or know that world of creators. I want the pure stuff Hans Zimmer used to compose so it sounds like I hired studio musicians to play my tracks.

Virtual Musicality "VM" (patent not pending)
