Xequence drum map for Patterning 2
New to Xequence and while I understand how to make the drum maps, somehow I’m missing it with Patterning 2.
I’ve got the eight blocks done, but for the life of me can’t figure out which notes the drums fire on. I thought it would be the same as listed under Patternings track output midi tab, but seems not.
Would love Xequence to do a mapping for this one anyway, as it must be one of the most used drum apps?
Comments
While you're editing a drum pad, Xequence will actually send the various notes as you tap them, so you can just try them all. If no note in no octave triggers any drum, then something else must be amiss...
Thanks for that
I’m doing something else wrong then lol
OK. Patterning might not be listening on its CoreMIDI input while inserted in Audiobus, even if it's only in an Audio lane (that would be a bug).
Can you try routing MIDI to Patterning via Audiobus instead? I.e. insert Patterning into the destination slot in one of the MIDI lanes, insert Xequence as source, and then select "Audiobus" as MIDI Destination in Xequence and the corresponding MIDI Out?
Yeah that’s what I thought, but Patterning does not come up as a destination slot in AudioBus.
I may have to ditch this idea at the moment anyway as AudioBus is not saving the correct setup in AUM anyway. Each time I load the AudioBus save, AUM loses the drum bus I’ve set up! So for now will have to report this to the respective devs and try another setup.
Gadget works lovely with Xequence, but Gadget heats my Air2 up to worrying heat levels.
Think for now I will have to go back to experimenting. One day I will find my near perfect setup lol
ENTITLED CUSTOMER ALERT:
You know, when you offer drum mapping as an IAP, I kind of thought there would be more premade drum app maps — like, most of them — a la Modstep or Rozeta. I didn’t expect to pay for the privilege of making them myself.
Sorry, but all available factory drum maps are visible and can be loaded even without buying the IAP. I never stated anywhere that buying the IAP would unlock additional drum maps, so I am not sure I understand. Xequence is really as open and honest as it gets regarding its IAPs and functionality.
What drum app do you favour for use with an Xequence / AudioBus / AUM setup? I was hoping to find one that has individual outs to use AU fx for the different drum sounds via AUM.
The problem I find is that many drum apps seem to just have stereo outs.
I mostly produce in Gadget and Sunvox, so maybe I'm not the best person to recommend AU drum apps to use. However, to solve the "just one out" problem, your best bet is probably to use one separate drum app (or instance) per drum sound.
@Fruitbat1919 here’s AUM presets of the drum apps I have with multi-outs. https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/538364
Thanks for reply
Thanks @gusgranite really helpful
@gusgranite surprised that AUM doesn’t seem to trigger Patterning, so I’m still no further lol
Isn’t that a Patterning feature request rather than AUM?
Probably. Thought today’s musical adventures were going to be easy lol.
