Is there an app to split a single midi file into multiple instruments?
I’m looking for a way to just record a bunch of midi from one of my midi instrument apps, and then be able to split that one midi track into multiple tracks for different instruments by range. Like anything from C4 to G5 goes to this instrument, etc. I know this can technically be done if I send the midi to iwavestation, but it’s a bit of chore to work all that out in there. Was hoping there was an app that made this a little smoother. Perhaps one of the daws or something. Anyone know of such a thing?

If you already have Xequence, it's quite easy to do with it. Just duplicate your track (and part) for each separate key range / instrument you want, and then for each duplicated part, open it, select the desired keyrange, invert selection, and delete. Not fully automatic though.
Sounds good! Could you elaborate a bit on the invert part of this process? I’m not sure what the purpose is.
Edit: nevermind, I get it. Thank you
@db909, made a little video anyway:
Very helpful, thanks again.
@SevenSystems since you’re in the midi sequencing app business. It would be cool to see this automatic in other app in the future maybe. Ideally you’d be able to just keep the one master midi file, and within that have your normal all encompassing selection box and be able to select individual notes. This should all be color coded. Basically, color coded, one giant midi file, instruments split by color rather than tracks
I get what you're saying... not currently on the roadmap... but on another note, have you tried to use one of the various MIDI processing tools (MidiFire, MIDIFlow etc.)? That should also do the job (in realtime even!)
From this thread the answer to your question
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/28392/streambyter-script-distribute-polyphonic-midi-to-n-outgoing-mono-midi-channels#latest
The „Distribute Poly Midi to N Mono channels“ splits the polyphony of a track onto ‚quasi random‘ assigned channels - since all channels should use the same sound it does not matter which channel plays a note. When note hiding/unhiding happens a single long note may first play on channel 4, then be muted because a newer note stole the channel and later when there isma free channel (because other notes were released) it will be played on channel 2.
Maybe use Midiflow, and setup several lanes (one for each destination) reading from the same source and applying a key-region to each of the lanes.
cubasis is good for instruments and easy to edit
