Best non-amp-sim AUv3's for use with an electric guitar FX chain

Experimenting using L6 Variax with QuantiLoop "minimally" WITHOUT any DSP-heavy amp-sim app in the chain, using just AU plugins and the three input FX slots in QL.
For jazz-cleans/acoustic models using a few choice plugins its turned outsurprisingly good.
But for strat/tele sounds - does anyone know of any good guitar overdrive AU's - or something with cab simulation? I came across one which I might buy to thicken or warm up the tone a little - Little Rocker by Aleksandar Mlazev- anyone use it ?

Do you know Tonebridge? They have some nice sounding stuff and is AU

I always use this if I'm playing DI outside of an amp sim. It's totally free, so worth a shot to see if it's up your alley. Tele > Korvpressor > Fuzz Plus 3 > whatever else is my go-to au fx chain start

  • Amazing Noises "Limiter - Audio Processor" AUv3 FX for $3 comes to mind. It has distortion and (tube) saturation presets that can make a great guitar FX unit.

Amazing Noises also has an outrageous Reverb FX unit called GliderVerb (not AUv3) worth checking out for FREE and with the $7 IAP for the full control version.

The Holderness (IAA) FX Bundle creates some non-standard FX chains based upon typical guitar starting points: Reverb, Stereo, Echo, Flanger, Distortion, Tremolo all for $11. Also sold individually for $3 each.

I look forward to some interesting Guitar Music. Please share the results.

  • I’m using a Joyo American Sound pedal on my guitar, before it runs into the audio interface. It’s a fantastic, and absurdly cheap (€29) pedal amp sim. It gets pretty much any fender amp sound.

  • I sometimes use the Blamsoft DC-9 Overdrive into the VCA module from iVCS3 into MicSwap Pro to simulate a mic’d amp. Add Fat Lady Distortion for a bit more gain

Sounds like another winner from Harley Benton ... their gear is ridiculous value for money.

Grabbed a HB-35Plus recently (335 clone), great quality for about AU$350.
