fiddling with midi setups in aum for way too long then getting bored as soon as i start jamming.
this is why i like closed off apps like gadget. when i start something with gadget it usually gets done.
regardless i enjoy the process and always have fun with it and thats whats important to me.
and,
An odd quirk about me that doesn’t want to start something I can’t finish right away. And who has time to both start AND finish something?? 😉
Those damn developers who don’t give me dem feechurs! 😂
spontaneously starting new projects always seems to prevent me from completing existing ones 😝
My first several projects I did blindly without context, not caring about any response. Now I know better what response I'll get based on how I approach the broader music landscape so I weigh that into my desire to do another project and it tends to dampen my enthusiasm.
Kids, work, family stuff, lack of talent etc.

I’ll get a good loop going but get stuck trying to go farther making it in to a whole song.
I thought this one was unfinished. Then I went back to it a year later, and realized that it was already as finished as it's ever going to get. Sometimes they just need to sit and percolate for a while:

That‘s how it went for me until I started with Gadget one year ago. Nothing stops me from finishing songs since. The relative lack of options (can‘t use all those shiny fx toys) actually turns out to be a good thing in terms of coming to an end. Well, at least for me.
Fantastic.
Maybe its not what stops me but who when you boil it down.
@Wrlds2ndBstGeoshredr, a beautiful track and a beautiful girl. Bliss.
i don’t know if anyone reading this thread might be interested, but the midi interpretation experiment thread is a different way of approaching completing a track. Someone else’s! It takes a lot of the onus off the individual as sole creator and perfection is not necessary.
