I'm just gonna go with jumping to an unfounded conclusion related to what I WANT.

Noir, like most Moogs. Maybe a DFAM-esque drum machine (that actually takes midi lol).

Really I'll be thrilled with any additional differently focused drum machine to Ruismaker and Ruismaker FM. Those two already give me a huge array of sounds. Main drum plugins we use in my group on iOS.

I don’t either. Don’t worry, we have the most fun.

I could be wrong but with the #Ruismaker tag and the “Noir” clue I think it could be a drum machine inspired by the French punk band Bérurier Noir which consisted of two members one on guitar and the other operating a drum machine.

  • This gonna be another one of those gamechangers eh?

Wow, that's a rather specific hunch.

  • My guess is something dirty and bass specific - could be a mono synth that plays dirty bass well - sorta Roland SHish etc

  • The good thing about these topics is that they give ideas to devs of what we want next

    Kelloggs?.... Wasn't he a Cereal Killer? :D

My dad, a former cop, knew a guy named Kellogg who killed a guy by repeatedly bashing him with a bag of Grape Nuts. :o

    Cereal?

    He killed him with cereal?

Struck him on the Cap’n Crunch-ed his skull from what I heard...

  • Ohh, I wish there were a really good app for brush drum playing. Not fixed-length loops, but something really flexible. Just the combination of noir and drums made me think of this again.

  • Any word yet?

  • Maybe it's a gangster like app that shoots your browser when you try to open this forum and makes you go productive again

    Lol.

Given the picture used is non other than Leonard Cohen who is far from a gangster, this could generate anything from music to poetry :)

Now I'm seriously gonna have to ask my dad later today if that was a true story or he was just pulling a fast one on me while I was a kid.

Edit: ...nah, I just wanna keep assuming it's true like I always have. Nothing ruins things like a thorough fact check.

I dunno.. those grape nuts are pretty sinister...

I don’t think you need to in this case. Everyone knows that app as Syntronik.

Agree. But then again, maybe you should share a bit more so that we can better guide you. ;)

    Noir(e) ? Or ... La nuit

La nuit, meaning night or dark(ness), is pronounced "nwee." It is a frequently used French intransitive noun that most often describes that part of the day when it's dark, but it's quite common, too, to hear it used figuratively, as a symbol of something dark or fearsome.Jul 3, 2017

  • @brambos I was in too minds if it had anything to do with you. But of course it has none of your hallmark “future-retro style with emphasis on future, and revolution!”.
Sorry about giving bad news. Keep up the awe inspiring work. Im off to wax lyrical about an app or two of yours over at the app store to make up for it

If there is some theme related to the color...some of my favorite words for black in other languages:
In Czech and related languages. Cherna or Cherny. I had a cat named that.
I knew a Quechua speaker, her black cat was Yana...yah-nuh
Took Mandarin in school... 黑色 - hēi sè Like 'hey, 'sup'..without the P. But you have to get the tones right. Marks there indicate tones.
Had a Haitian gf....In French, if the r is pretty quiet, in Creole it is gone. Seen it spelled Noi. Looks punk, but ya not said that way.
Wife is Indian, they have a lot of languages, but in several black is Kala. Karo in Gujarati.
