  • Anyone knows if it's possible to mute the sound and use the virtual on-screen (seaboard) keyboard as an input controller?

I can't find a way to mute the sound in the Noise app.

turn the channel fader down or use the channel mute on the main mixer?

  • @AndyPlankton

The mute didn't worked (no midi-out).
I totally forgotten about the volume fader, lol.

    Thanks a lot.

Interesting. So are you able to route the midi from the on-screen Noise keyboard to other tracks / AUs eg Volt, Model 15 etc? And is all played and recorded correctly as MPE still?

@Proto will have to answer that one for you ;)

  • I can’t figure out how they connected the pad to the drums and the keyboard to the melody instrument

  • Tried this out last night. Both Noise and Volt work beautifully from the block itself. Might be the thing that pushes me to migrate from Auria.

Unfortunately the midi routing only works for app's connected with iaa/audiobus. I Only tested with quanta, but only noticed the pitch bend was working.

The more you use it, the more intuitive it becomes. A piano player does not consciously think about how hard to hit each and every note, it just flows from the feeling.

True, and the piano has its own obvious set of limitations with regard to expressive capabilities. The more accessible controllability an instrument has, the larger the range of potential expression. I guess when musicians used to actually put in years of practice playing one real instrument, all this was better understood.

Even without much practice, one quickly feels the polyphonic response of an MPE instrument, and then with practice the nuances can be better controlled. Much of playing isn't thinking, it's just hearing and doing.

    Hi Bianca,

The Roli devices can be easily connected with Cubasis via MIDI Bluetooth. Dom shows this in our Cubasis 2.6 video at around 8:00 minutes.

The Roli Noise app includes basically two instruments, which are Noise Drums and Noise Melody.
Depending which instrument is assigned and selected, the hardware devices will trigger it accordingly.
The first track is assigned to Noise Drums, the remaining tracks to several Melody instances.

    Hope that explains it better...

    Best,
    Lars
