Can't Enable iPad 2 via Inter-Device Audio Mode?

My MacBook Pro recognizes my iPad 2 (iOS 9.3.5) in "Audio MIDI Setup" on the "Audio Devices" menu, but "Enable" is greyed out. I am able to Enable my iPhone 7. Maybe Inter-Device Audio Mode is not supported in iOS 9? Anyone else encounter this issue?
