Great flyer @Carnbot I did see the Magic Mushroom band there. I think they played quite a bit there.

I used to go to the Crypt Club a bit in the mid 80’s. Saw the Mushroom Band there, but usually I remember the Ozrics playing.

Used to crash out in the graveyard afterwards. I remember being woken up once by a bloke walking around ringing a bell, shouting ‘acid, acid for sale’.

The Crypt was before my time here but I did go to what used to be called The Bunker club. Now I'm not even sure it's got a name, number 47 or something, the name of the door. also "Let's all hang together" was a fun place. Sadly gone now. Unfortunately because of money coming in here, now all the new venues are usually a bit bland and corporate.

I don’t recognise London when I visit now, it’s all shiny and jam packed with people.

I run an acoustic jam near HW every other Tuesday and play with a band in the local area. What i'd like to do is see if I can start performing my electronic stuff, or I might look towards setting a jam up or even an 'electronic open mic'.... will see.

Shouldn't that be an 'Open Jack' night :D

    🤔 i quite like that!

Feel free to use it. I only ask 99% commission :D :D

    I’m near H Wycombe

I’ve heard (read) there’s a regular jam happening somewhere around hi Wycombe. Are you aware of it? Not sure if that’s still the case.

Yeah there was one, but I never made it, and then I think it wound up.

I was running a weekly jam at my place of work in Reading, until the other three guys got made redundant! Now its just me and a 22 channel mixer lol.

We have a pretty good electronic open mic here in PDX called Volt Divers. No software allowed though!

Hopping on the MAX with a small electronic setup up to play an open mic seems like a fun idea. I bookmarked it in case I get brave enough to do a solo performance. I’ve never performed electronic before other than once with just my iPad, Xkey 37, and a battery amp.
Looks like analog with firmware is allowed, and apparently also very digital things, but I mostly see people doing modular or something very analog.

Deptford still has it's character, but for how long is uncertain. We a have a Costa now unfortunately and the "Fuck Off Costa" repeatedly scrawled across and washed off will eventually give in as the Gentifrication tide is unstoppable. I wouldn't mind if the betting shops disappeared though. :)

Yeah, it's mostly modular (was all modular at the start) but I've seen people use MPCs and other sequencers. I think as long as it's a "designed entirely for music making" device their lines between software and hardware are mushy. I bet they'd be down if someone showed up with an Amiga and a DX-7.

Let me know if you go down!

The US/Canada border is about 5.5 hours away from pdx. A little too far for a quick jump but perhaps we should one day get a group to meet at the border and create the first realtime, international LINK jam.

Okay will do. I’ll have to work up the courage. I’m used to being behind drums or keyboards and never solo. I think the Volcas (Keys, Bass, Beats) should be up to the task and it sounds like if it’s a total screw up of a performance people may not care. Volcas are better than I give them credit, but it’s hard with 16 steps.

Do you ever perform at them?

Then on top of that they have to be making it on IOs to be here. The only people who talk on the local forums are "professionals," and I can't stand most of them.
