Can you use the File manager on the iOS app? For me it crashes every time I try and drag something to a clip.
Cool thx. Anyone else checked those workflows side by side?
Now, if only they can bring this to Touchable Pro... One only have to wonder why Liine (Lemur) would discontinue his treasure..
I think Ableton ‘Capture and Insert Scenes’ is lame.. this snapshot thing is the way to go..
I haven’t tried that yet.
Give it a try when you get the chance, I need to confirm this bug. Can't be just me as it happens on my Air 2 and 12.9. It's such a great feature though as you can preview the samples in the browser, which you couldn't in Touchable 3. But T3 browser is working fine though.
Chris @cblomert : Can’t wait till Modstep 2. If this GUI in TouchAble is any indicator , then I’m hoping to see some of this visuals know-how transfer over to Modstep 2..In that case , instabuy.
Is it worth the money if you just bought the older one a month ago. Would have just saved the money and waited.
Had to get this. File browser as in accessing Ableton's files from the browser? I can do that with .wav or .aif (10.5 ipad), I've just tried it with stock files so far. Can't get it to preview files, is that done by clicking on the triangle flag thingie and turning it blue? Need to rtfm
Yes, you preview the samples by pressing the triangle play icon, turns blue. If I drag a sample to a track it almost always crashes for me, or sometimes works and creates a new track.
Someone needs to make some tutorial vids for this cuz I watched the two videos in here and am even more confused haha. So it’s a fully configurable Ableton Live remote app. Or something of the like? Guess I’ll have to dig in to the manual
If you have Ableton Live on a Windows or Mac computer, & you install Touchable Pro on your iPad, you will be able to control most of Ableton Live via your iPad. It's turns your ios device into a controller, similar to the Push. It doesn't make any sound of it's own, it 's purely for controlling Ableton Live without having to use a mouse & QWERTY keyboard.................

Interesting, I can’t hear the previews at all via the triangle in Touchable and the sample audition knob in Ableton is turned up. Headphone audition in Touchable is up too. I can however drag n drop audio files from browser.
Question for the Touchable Dev....... Are you guys going to be the one to make an Ableton live-esk app for the iPad, are you working on one right now, and if not why not?
Well, they do make the awesome app modstep. So in a way, yeah, they’re going to make the ableton live-esk app for the iPad. 🤫🤪
modstep is cool but I'm talking about something that feels like Ableton... they definitely have all of the insight they need to do it right, I just want to know if they are going to do it or not, and for iOS they wouldn't need to go as far as Ableton or modstep, just as far as something between group the loop and energy nxt
What’s up with all this crazy iOS pricing structure recently, I’m sure the old mini version wasn’t this much in the past ?
Yeah, they're trying to get people to stop buying Touchable3 but get Pro instead, yet still keep the Touchable apps in the store for support. I think they're putting up the price to 999 for the main T3 app.
I dunno. Modstep is already pretty close. We just need a few more things added and we’d have a great iOS to Ableton workflow.
Sounds like the audio stuff they were working on for Modstep brings it closer.
But I hope they add an audio unit extension to Modstep so you could host it in apps like apeMatrix/Aum. This would add a lot better workflow if you were working all on the ipad.
I"ve just bought Touchable Pro for iOS - it's looking really great so far and I'm gonna enjoy using it
I wonder if we could possibly have a Mac mini with no screen plugged in sitting safe in a small rack and then just have the iPad for controlling Live on stage? To do that I guess we would need to load Live sets from Touchable.. is that possible?
I just tried it out running on both my iPad and iPhone, and it sure would be better to be stop the main Live screen from following the iOS - as when you have two iOS devices it tries to follow both of them at the same time!
_imo modstep is overkill for this kind of request... what I'm looking for is basically Live version 3.0, give us a session view of some sort, the audio warping/warpmarker push and pull, with live 10 sample editing, some follow actions and parameter locks and call it a day..... and keep it stand alone/self contained with proper import and export, modulation fx and let us have some simple fun that can be taken seriously rather than complex shenanigans and routing rabbit holes that cannot be taken seriously....
modstep is another level of complexity that I'm not always in the mood to get into when pulling out my pad while I'm on the go._
I'm trying to get a good ( tidy / usable / understandable ) set up going - and I've been grouping some of my tracks in Ableton Live to clear up clutter on screen -so for example if I have 2 or 3 tracks doubling up a part I've got them grouped as effectively they are just one instrument.
But any grouping I do on Live does not seem to be reflected in Touchable - and I can't find any options relating to the groups.... I thought Touchable would immediately follow what happens on the main Live screen.
Can you use groups in Touchable - or is it limited to individual tracks?
Also - on a related note - I was considering also getting a Launchpad - does anyone know if the track groups work on Launchpads?
Really hope so - seems a massive oversight if not!!!!
EDIT - Ha -
- I just switched back on Touchable and just by magic the group has appeared! I guess you need to close and reopen the Touchable app for it to update the groups at the moment.. possible bug perhaps.
Still - I would like to know about Launchpads and groups if anyone knows!! Ta
Gave Touchable Pro a good workout today - both me and my wife had our iPads going and were working on making a track in Live at the same time! It was working really well as a two person set up. We were able to add new tracks / select instruments / assign to our separate controller keys / mix and trigger loops without any hiccups and without interfering with each other. It's really fun to be working on building a tune together simultaneously!
As I've mentioned before - the way the Live screen follows the Touchable scrolling etc does not work very well in this setup - and if you have a hardware controller running in normal Live mode it's annoying that it swaps to follow the currently selected track / device in Touchable when different tracks in Live are being selected all the time - and not necessarily by yourself
I suppose I could hard MIDI assign the controller functions - and that would stop things skipping around - but that would lose a LOT of flexibility.
@cblomert - When we renamed tracks in Touchable the new name did not seem to get transferred to Live at all - the new name just stayed on the iPad. Is this a known bug?
@cblomert Do you know if the EQ-8 is fixable? Right now it acts all wonky. The Q-factor isn‘t displayed at all in the App and sometimes the curve doesn‘t even act with what I‘m doing.
Otherwise it‘s awesome!
It‘d be awesome to have something like a step sequencer Maschine-Style or 2 rows of 8 though.
The manual isn’t the best I’ve ever seen. In fact its awful. There are lots of typos and its badly written at times. It seems very rushed and not proof read? I understand that a phenomenal amount of work has gone into the app so the manual will have been a last-minute thing. I just hope it gets a re write at some point in the future?
There’s lots of jumping around topic for no apparent reason and the screenshots don’t always seem to correlate with whats being said. The screenshots seem very low res so it’s hard to make out details.
From what I’ve read the app seems unbelievably good....in complete contrast to the manual! I just hope that I won’t have to refer to the manual a lot.....eep
Waiting for snapshots..
I alway loved Touchable. But in the meantime I switched to Bitwig - less hurting the eyes, more elegant controller accessibility. Bitwig is in fact very close to Ableton - so, Christian, any change for a Bitwig modification for Touchable Pro? I really want it!
Is Touchable Pro able to control Ableton Live on the same Windows (Surface) device?
yeah there's a Windows version available, but not tried that yet myself, just have iOS version.
Speaking of Bitwig, this months Computer Music magazine comes with a mostly fully functional copy with max 8 tracks. Tracks are kind of like Live so they can go a long way.
