Korg electribe wave iphone

Is it good??

Just noticed it’s universal now and 33 percent off

  • Basically imagine being able to get all the Gadget synth sounds, with only one synth interface to learn instead of however many gadgets you have. That is appealing to me. More focused

I’m really tempted now. I’ll actually use it if it’s on iPhone (rather than the iPad I never get out).

    But do I need it?

I’m certainly not going to be producing whole tracks in a groovebox (I’ve had GrooveRider for months, sitting untouched).

And I’m attracted by the idea of doing nice wavetable sound design on my phone. And I could sample the results and take into Gadget. But I bought Reason Compact IAP for that reason - and have barely used that, because I’ve been busy using iWavestation to create wavetable patches for Gadget (which I can actually make a whole track in).

But that ‘buy’ button is still sitting there winking at me...

Depends on your definition of good. I love it. Most of the things some people have said are issues aren’t for me. There’s another huge thread about the app here somewhere. Do a search.

  • It’s great, though the UI is definitely a lot smaller on the iPhone. If you’re comfortable with say Gadget on the iPhone, it’ll be more or less the same.

It’s grown on me a lot in the past few days I’ve had it. There’s really not that much to it which means once you get acquainted with everything, it’s real quick to jump around and get things done. Just a great synth engine with TONS of automation possibilities in one simple interface, good drum samples, and your up to 8 bar loop sequencer. The big bonuses are the assignable Kaoss pad for performing all your automation and the chord creator, which is great on the phone when you don’t have a controller of some sort to hook up/send midi from. And the song mode is basically the same as Gadget, scene based top to bottom with the exception that your parts/tracks exist per scene rather than globally. I would recommend it to anyone who likes the Gadget sound, but perhaps gets annoyed at the Gadget interface from time to time.

It’s korg mate and it’s on sale

That’s all there is to it lol

I’d say for me and you, we can feed Bilbao and Abu Dhabi with it

  • I grabbed it and it has huge potential

    Thanks

  • Can this thing produce bass house? Can it export stems? If yes to both, then I'll be in!

  • Okay, purchased it. I love what it's got, but the export options are mad disappointing. Stuck to 44.1kHz/16-bits, and this time there's not even an Audioshare option, relying on the crummy outdated Audiocopy option. Hopefully more export options will be added soon, because otherwise it's a great app!

KEW supports Files.app if you're running iOS11 or above, no need to use AudioCopy...
(Ie. export to 'iTunes' and you'll get a nice folder in Files.app)

Doh! Now I see it, lol. Okay mate, next question. How does one copy/paste patterns, and how does one delete patterns? (Same question goes for saved songs, given there's a limit for slots for both patterns and drums? I'm checking the manual, and there's nothing to explain. I would really hope to god I am not stuck with the patterns I make.)

'Copy' pattern is easy. Just tap save and select another slot.
'Delete' is awol but select one of the empty patterns and 'save' it over an existing pattern.

Suggestion that I've heard to make room more patterns is to make a 'backup' (see the backups as extra 'pattern / instrument banks). It's always possible to restore from another file.

It's far from perfect but a dream compared to my hardware Electribe 2...

Ah, and there in-lies the secret to clearing space. 'Save' as a copy/delete function.

Now, backups. Do you mean simply saving a pattern to a different bank or sommat?

  • You can export a full bank to save it, then import a new one with more room.

    Let’s hear your bass house!

  • Found an obvious solution for the lack of a metronome. Just use a synth arp. Go into the sequence page and press fill to fill the entire pattern length with it, delete when no longer needed

  • Does it have Ableton Link?

Sometime soon. :) Meantime, here's an older example.

Default patterns all have a beep on 1 and a 1,2,3,4 kick. Why would you need more than that to get started?

Does it have link, AB/IAA output? Is it only EDM suited or can it be used for hip hop too?

Yes to all and for the last question yes in the case if modern trap and bass music. However Grooverider is better for hip hop due to its sampling capabilities.

Thanks, this is useful and what I thinked.

I like to record all the drum parts for the full pattern length. So that kick gets deleted. And then I can go where that beep is, fill the sequence with it and turn the arp on. Customizable metronome.

  • I'm really starting to get on with this app, and it's really damn sweet. I mean, in my opinion it still needs some better export options , and maybe custom sample import for drums, pcm, and wavetable, but so far, I love it. :)

  • I like having this on the phone, I'm more apt to use it in situations where I only have a phone and no iPad. But boy, do the reverbs ever suck.

Hence why I bitched about not having stem export, lol. Could give it a proper mixdown in Auria.

I know it’s a bit late to be saying cheers for this but... cheers! Been messing about with audiocopy to AudioShare and of course it was buggy as hell.
