White Whale: Looking for affordable USB audio interface for iPad with coax digital input...
Hey all, I'm striking out.. Maybe someone else knows of such a beast?
My usage is I have an A&H DB4 that has coax digital outputs. I'd like to run that into my iPad as opposed to using an audio interface.
I don't need some massive multi-channel interface, just a way to get the clean digital signal off the mixer into the ipad with minimal conversion.
Ideas? Leads?
Thx!

I need to make clear, as there a ton of devices that go the other direction... I need digital IN to the iPad over USB.

While I appreciate your suggestions, alas in my world $500 interface's don't check the "affordable" box.
Maybe I'll do a GoFundMe.
That looks like it will be perfect! I've got a bunch of their pedals and the Zoom video recorder thing so hopefully this works!
The manual is a bit sketchy though... Do you know for a fact that the coax dig. input will work in "interface" mode, or does it only work in the "standalone" D/A mode?
I do not. However, the block diagram in the manual clearly shows the S/PDIF inputs and the "Mic" input as selectable options for inputs 3-4 in Interface Mode.
Yea, I saw that.. I'm just hoping the people that wrote the manual got it "right."
@MonkeyDrummer true, they're expensive...But maybe second hand, and if you consider adding some other inputs, and need good preamps... (mid/long term) might be interesting ?
But agree Zoom U-44 seems to perfectly match the needs, and it's very cheap !
+1 on the zoom. I've been running the optical out of my mbp into optical in on the zoom and running it into my iPad. Works great
+1 on zoom as well. Very solid piece of kit.
