and yeah, I'd rather not have to use another app to sync things as well, but until AUM accepts external clock, it's the solution I've found that works.
I didn't pull the trigger on GR16, something about it I couldn't put my finger on... do you have any good vids that you like on sample based workflows with GR16/ any slicing vids?
At this point Gr16 is basically an iOS port of elektrons digitakt. Amd it just gets better every patch. @ExAsperis99 can attest to this since he owns an actual Digitakt.
I own both the Digitakt an an Electribe and it's definitively the Electribe that GR-16 covers.
My fav workflow is sampling and importing using AudioShare.
Slicing is a bit like in bilbao, only that after import of your loop, it's already cut into 16 slices at 16ths and you have much finer control over start and end points, a proper waveform display with zoom and MPC-style chromatic pitch plus the full modulation, filter, envelope and FX engine for this part. And you can have up to 16 of these parts simultaneously. It's a powerful, reliable workhorse.
If you like it or not depends on how much you like the idea of a groovebox.
I've got a digitakt as well, are Gr16's P.locks like the digitakt or like maschines ?
Yes, very similar to the way it works on the DT.
From the manual which is available for free on https://www.jimaudio.pro:
You can edit Part’s automation data when in EDIT+SEQ mode. To do so, hold down the Pad, which corresponds to a Step you want to edit automation for, and turn the Part’s Parameter knob in the Parameters Panel to a desired value. A yellow automation curve will appear over the note editor display, allowing you to view the whole automation track for the chosen Parameter in the Selected Part.
So it's even better in that you can see the whole automation curve for all steps.
but do you then have to reset for the next step , cause e I prefer it how it is on the digi?
No, it's like drawing an automation curve in a DAW. If you set a new value at a certain step, it remains there for the rest of the pattern until you change it on a different step. But it's quite easy to handle because you always see what you're doing in the automation curve, and you can additionally set each part to either interpolated smooth or hard stepped automation individually.
@DMan : But you can’t mix time signatures, correct? It’s choose one and keep it there per the entire song?
thanks rs, I wish it at least had the option to be like it is on the digi, and that the slicing was a little more flexible
Reviving this thread:
Anyone using Xequencer to control hardware? I’ve been using AUM & Rozeta to control 3 hardware synths and clock an MPC.
