I use the irig midi to then send the midi clock to the digitakt.

This works perfectly. Did it just a few days ago.

Yep, proper solid for me 😉

Midi link Sync also works with Bluetooth MIDI dongles.
I prefer using the Digitakt as a MIDI clock master though because I do like hardware transport buttons quite a bit and I don't need a fiddly clock <> Link setup B)
Bluetooth dongles on its MIDI ports. Works well with both Gadget and Groove Rider, or Genome if you wish.

Thanks guys. However I did try Midi Link Sync and although It does send clock it seems my issue is more of the Digitakt not recording.

My original aim is to record the notes from Xequence, into the Digitakt. Whether by Link or other sync.

I also tried Patterning 2, and although the Digitakt appears to start recording it doesn’t. Not unless the record button is physically pressed.

I’m trying to find a way to trigger playback in Xequence and record on the Digitakt. I used Patterning 2 as a go between.

Sorry if this is confusing, but I’m still searching for a solution. Cheers.

    • Just to note that I have got the ‘Auto’ midi channels correct on the Digitakt and Xequence, it’s just the record triggering I’m trying to suss out. Ta.

    Forget LINK.
Connect your iPad to the Digitakt USB port over CCK, on the Digitakt enable USB MIDI and "Receive clock", arm LIVE REC on the Digitakt, make Xequence send clock and Notes/CC to Digitakt then hit play in Xequence.

  • Pretty sure you’ll have to enable record manually.

Thanks. I’ll give this another go tomorrow.

BTW, don't be surprised in case some notes get lost. The MIDI tracks on the Digitakt have max. 4 notes polyphony each.

Actually just tried this now and as Dchild suggests, it seems I still need to manually record on the Digitakt.

Yeah 4 note polyphony in mind, cheers.

Manual record, but it’s in sync so I should have something to work with at least. Ta.

  • You could use an ios compatible audio interface that has midi out and use Aum to send midi clock. I usually have it set up the other way with the Digitakt controlling the clock.

Just in case, record+play on the DT is for live record mode (what you want) vs step record mode. Same combo again to toggle between quantized and unquantized live record mode.

Hey Will, yeah it looks like I'm unable to trigger the DT into live record mode remotely. If I press the record button to put the DT in standby, I can then trigger the play button via Xequence clock but this puts DT into Step record mode.

The issue appears to be with triggering the live record mode on DT. I've got Xequence clocking solidly now.

Ah, gotcha. Haven't tried that. That's sounds like a good idea. Shame it's not working!
