Van freaking couver !!!

Wow this simple gadget is dope!!! I feel like it really should come standard with the initial gadget purchase, but hey it's worth it... Makes gadget even stronger and more amazing.
I like to sample my synths and play them thru pads a lot so this is pretty perfect for what I want despite the limitations and things that people find annoying, sampling synths can make it easier to jam out repeated patterns without having to play the chords and sequences a bunch of times, and the little tweaks Vancouver gives you control of make it simple and powerful...
Shout out to @Spidericemidas for the Vancouver track and everyone else who's been digging gadget with me, this is gonna open up a whole new world !

  • I love Vancouver. Only thing I'd change is for the 'Smooth' loop setting to actually create smoothness.

But there's so much you can do with two layers of sound, a handful of knobs and settings, some weird reverbs, and oh yeah, that sub-bass! I sometimes forget it's there, but other times, it's just what I need to complete a sound.

Plus, fundamentally, when it comes to recording (well, importing) your own silly noises and being able to play them up and down a keyboard, I am the kids in this Sesame Street video with Herbie Hancock:

It's still novel to me; still amazing and fun.

But I remember when Vancouver came out, some people were like, "UGH, IT'S NOT A SPACESHIP, YET ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT FROM KORG," etc. etc.

I'm still waiting for the flood of Vancouver-based tunes and original presets. It's such a fun gadget.

  • Only wish was it had time stretch other than that it’s great

  • This video by Jakob Haq inspired me to crack Vancouver's cover open and experiment with the possibilities...

  • Great shout- I had forgotten how good this is.

Yay! Glad you’re enjoying Vancouver, and Gadget in general!
Vancouver really does open up the sound palette enormously for Gadget. You can do pretty much anything with it, with a little careful fore-thought and planning, you can craft amazing pads, atmos and lead sounds.
I haven’t even begun to look into loading and layering drum/perc sounds into it yet.
I actually prefer it not having time stretching and such. I love the way recorded audio slows down or speeds up across the keyboard pitches. This can produce a lot of movement in say big pad chords if you have a sample with some filter action already baked into it. Obviously playing a chord involves different pitches which equals different sample playback rates which equals different speeds of the baked in filter action which equals a lot of movement in a pad chord!! Lovely!
Fantastic long drawn out spooky drones and sounds at the bottom end when samples slow right down. Love that.
I’m using Vancouver more and more in my stuff.

Thanks for the shout out! 👍👊🙏

Awesome now I am totally excited and all that, but unfortunately VC isn’t on sale with the latest update. I may wait till Black Friday sales?!
17€ is a bit heavy for me right now to drown in gadget ;)

Yes, I know what you mean!
Since I bought the iPad and moved my music making over to the iOS platform two years ago, whenever friends and family were stuck for gift ideas for me at Christmas, Birthdays and other special occasions, I told them, "The only thing I really want and would appreciate tremendously is iTunes vouchers, please!!". They all duly oblige on every occasion, it solves their gift idea problem very easily and makes me incredibly happy grinning like a kid every time when an iTunes voucher drops out of a Christmas or Birthday card. You wouldn't believe how pleased and excited I was to receive a sizeable iTunes voucher as a romantic Valentine's Day gift! Just what I wanted for that new synth or gadget! LOL! If it wasn't for the gift vouchers, I wouldn't have even half the apps I currently own :)

  • I'm just waiting for the next sale  I may sound cheap, but with the current brazilian economy, we pay double to triple the price most of you pay out there

(and what I had in credits went to Voice Synth, Gestrument Pro, RE-1, KEW, rbSam, etc)

I tried to wait, but couldn't hahaha I needed it now and it's totally helping me get things done, so that's worth the price alone... However I do feel it should come with gadget initial purchase, but I see why they made it an iap, cuz it's kinda needed hehe and they can make that money!!
Get it as soon as you can man! You'll have lots of fun

And yes @Spidericemidas haha I ask everyone for app store gift cards for anything, it's the perfect gift

  • Ok my only gripe with Vancouver, and it's tolerable.... When you upload your track to the cloud to work on it on another device.... The sample doesn't go with it 😑 I can live with it but hey it sure would be nice

If you tap the grey cloud icon next to your user sample it’ll turn blue and will be uploaded to iCloud so it’s available in Gadget on other devices.

I really wish the Mac version let you drag and drop sample files into the VST gadgets... I would use this way more if they didn't make file import such a pain.

  • Oh snap!!! Thank you man !!
