It all sounds pretty dated to me - nothing ages so poorly as yesterday’s version of the future.

 First of all, have you ever been acquainted with Synthwave? Check out Com Truise on Spotify if you haven't. Those old nostalgic 80s sounds seem to have aged very well.

A lot of Future House music falls back on sounds derived from the M1. For example....

So, what @chisel316 made sounds like 90s Trance, and those sounds have aged very well.

As @LucidMusicInc said, a lot of modern stuff sounds like dog shite, and I agree to some extent.

That said, all examples are vey well-produced and certainly much more coherent than anything I could make in this genre. So, I guess that I want you to use your talent for good instead of evil.

"Use it for good instead of evil" is about the silliest thing I've ever heard, so I hope you weren't being serious when you typed it. Hey, if you want @chisel316 to do something YOU want him to do, pay up the money. ;)

Obviously you failed to see the humorous intent of my “good or evil” comment. In any case, it all does sound dated and tired in my opinion. But if you want to go on, I’m game. Otherwise, I’m happy to let this die.

Game on! Let’s hear your examples of what music is supposed to sound like in present day. Keep in mind these songs posted by the OP were I fact made 2 years ago. But we would like to hear what you are comparing these tracks to so that we can dispassionately evaluate whether or not they are objectively better than canine excrement.

Not sure what music is “supposed” to sound like. That’s the problem, I think. I like noise, feedback, and a bit of harmonic imperfection. I want my ears challenged and this isn’t the right thread for that.

Here's a right proper one for ya.

@chisel316, Don't listen to anyone who says your music sounds like 90's. Trance is evergreen, stylish and futuristic!

I think what you mean is that don't listen to anyone who says the music @chisel316 made is dated. Despite 90s Trance having a certain date when that particular style was "en vogue", it's also timeless. Paul Van Dyk, ATB, Robert Miles, BT, Darude, and so many other trance pioneers have created incredible productions that are now 20 years old that have withstood the test of time so far! This is my own opinion at any rate. ;)

Why thank you. I mean, this masterpiece I crafted in 10 minutes days months has all those complex futuristic non-commercial dissonant overtones and a ton of sonic imperfections. This truly deeply layered commentary that harshly criticises the overcritical and challenges the ears to listen to a multitude of Bronx cheers provides the perfect response to derisive terms such as "outdated" and "tired". Pierre and Karlheinz would be fascinated by "PBLT", learning that their innovative sound-sculpting techniques can be performed flawlessly on such a flat handheld device that'd cost them a mere $50 in 1960.

In case you wondered, I AM being a smart arse. Why, I'm even taking the p*** on those long-winded explanations that often accompany musique concrete.

Hey @chisel316 just wanted to say great job on all of those. I like the compressed sound of the Gadget the best, at least on drums. But, honestly, thought the Caustic sound too was excellent.

Thanks! Gadget definitely has a great sound. It's hard to make anything that doesn't sound good with it.

I think Trance is way better than all the crappy music that is being dished out these days.
