  • Thanks Doug as always your tutorials works for us newbies

    Thanks Doug, very helpful.

Realised I had the old version of this, which seems like half of the new one. Problem I always had with it was getting samples in - Dropbox and general pasteboard never seemed to work (just reinstalled, and that’s still the case), so just left with the dreaded iTunes/pc connection faff.

Has anyone had any luck importing samples in this one? @Fruitbat1919 ?

All the samples I played in my vid were imported. Just copy a folder into its folder in the folder app.

Ah ok cheers, I guess it’s using the Files thing then? How are you getting on with it - glad you bought it?

It’s fun, but to be honest I’m not sure if it will really become a long term thing or just another time passer. I can imagine it being great for some, but I’m not sure it will really fit with where my musical journey is at - at this time at least.

Yeah, I meant files app not folder app doh!

The most I can think of using it for myself is hooked up to record it out while doing a little jam. I would then use this as a start for working in a DAW. I find sometimes that it’s easier to start something with a few sounds going at once than laying down on track in a DAW and working from there.

Maybe it’s do I really need another tool for my collection at this time. Sometimes I’ve got too much choice.

You may love it for jamming, or you may hate it. I don’t believe it’s the most quick app to get something going. It takes a while to get in your samples, decide how to group them and use the fx wisely. It almost seems that setting up a good project can be a bit of a chore at times. You may not find this the case though.

Maybe some others here would like to chip in?

Yeah seems to have potential, but faster loading of samples (open in, via Audioshare) would make it more attractive. I’ll probably pass, but it is tempting.

It would be more helpful if we could have a shared sample folder for iOS apps. I do get fed up with moving samples around

Yep, agree completely. Doesn’t help my lack of disk space either.

  • @Fruitbat1919 can't decide on this one. I beta tested, but I didn't give all that much feedback and I don't think I'd feel comfortable even getting a code for this. So, I'd be buying it.

It's fun. It's intuitive. It does what it does very well and it's rock solid stable. It's somewhat unique. And, I think the $10 launch price is fair. If that's half off, I likely wouldn't pony up for full price. $10 is definitely what I'd expect to pay for something like this.

Only problem is that I'm on a bit of an app diet. Trying to get back to all the other wonderful apps I already have and rarely use... mostly because I just have too many great apps that some often get wrongfully overlooked.

Will likely play around with the beta some more and see if this is something I'll keep using... so that I make sure I grab it before the launch sale is over.

  • this is one of those (sample-based) apps that I bypass indevice file sharing, and use iMazing to load several gigs of stuff.

The nested file structure is much appreciated, and the app accepts pretty sizeable files (haven’t measured but I’m loading 4 bar loops, along with the usual hits...)

This is the kind of app I can get lost in, its deep and full of possibilities. Use case for me is likely to be a lot like the loopbuilder in Stagelight or GarageBand, or Ableton performance view, play and record the performance (I spent hours when I first bought it, trying all my DAW with the 8 audio outs, till I found a combination that worked. If inapp stems recording is added, that’ll be just lovely). Meanwhile I will likely cavort for a long while without needing to finalize anything.

  • MIDI out would make all the difference for me.

As it is, I have the original and don't really use it, I like it but it's been superseded.

  • Turns out that the 8 audio outs also work with AEM via AB3 live...

Do you get codes for beta testing? Interesting, I have only beta tested apps I already owned. Infact for some reason I received the beta for loopseque without asking and ironically this was the only beta app where the developer didn’t respond to my feedback.

I seem to have a buzzing problem when stopping one of my channels

Oddly only records it at the start

Now loading the setup crashes it too :(

You referenced codes, this is something I have not come across. Do developers have the option to give out codes for apps?

Yep I get these buzzes when using it in any AB3 setup, and also hosted as IAA in AUM, and noted the buzzing in the other Loopseque thread. (I think the dev saw this, at least he quoted that post, and also received my crash logs though I didn’t know I was sending them, not sure how that works)

The crashes seem to happen with all hosting setups except AB3 into MultiTrack DAW and AEM. (no luck in BM3, Cubasi, MTS, didn’t try Auria but my suspicion is any host with its own sizeable footprint won’t currently work)

In my trials no IAA host seems to work with the 8 tracks out directly, though the summed A and B and main out do seem to work though not all hosts can see all the possible outs which number 11 in total

One strange thing: I thought that when I first downloaded the app there was a way to offset a track’s beats incrementally, rotating the spokes by fractions, and additional dotted line spikes appeared between the main ones when adjusting this offset. I deleted the app and reinstalled and now I can’t figure out where this control went. I thought I saw something in the app description earlier that seemed to reference this feature, but I can’t find that now in the app description. Maybe I dreamt this, or my psych meds dosage need a tweak. @Digitalresonance ?

Sometimes I have, sometimes I don't. It depends. I don't expect it, but if I've put in a lot of time testing , sending back screen shots and other data, trying other things the dev suggests to try and locate a bug, etc. and the dev offers a code.. I'll accept. And, I only beta the few that I'm really interested in and would likely buy anyway. Loopesque was like that. I didn't get around to putting in quality time with it, and the feedback I gave was minimal.

Most of the time I prefer to just wait and buy the app.

  • For anyone getting the buzzing sound it’s probably one of the Repeater Effects, if you can find it just turn it off to start

  • A.so here is a new video showing how to install your own sample folders via the Files app

  • @thesoundtestroom
Hey, Doug many thanks for the videos, as always even when you’re presenting an app I’m already into you open it up further!

Have you seen in your play with the app the offset función I mention above? I swear I recall the first night with the app that I used a function that incrementally shifted the wheel or the detents of the wheel (spokes I guess) off of their default? I’m sure I was playing with it, it put the wheel of one deck off time with the other...

  • Thanks Sir Doug. I am still deeply suspicious of this Files app sorcery and thus am grateful for the simple encouragement etc.

  • @JohnnyGoodyear The Files App is great since it basically bypasses the dreaded iTunes File Sharing
