Syntronik..:no love?

  • I like it but I don’t use it often. If it were more like the Arturia’s V collection where you could tweak the oscillators and such then I’d use it a whole lot more. iOS need something like that

  • I HATE that it's "split" based and not midi channel based. That kills its usefulness for me. The split thing would be better if it at least had a basic octave setting per voice. but it doesn't even have that. :(

  • Well I love it.

  • I use it more often than most synths I have. Mostly just single sounds tweaked. My Air2 won’t run too many instances, so I usually record the part later on and take the app off.

I love Zeeon and Model D etc, but I’ve never felt that Syntronik is lacking. Syntronik pretty much has 50 to 60 percent of the sounds I want covered, the rest I do myself in other synths.

The problem many of us have nowadays on iOS: We have TOO many good, supergreat, awesome etc musicapps!
Syntronik is great, just like Sampletank and so many other apps in that category’s...

The problem occur also when to use any kind of DAW on iOS... I’ve bought them all, including many expensive IAP in Auria as an example, but, the time in my life when all this amazing software can be used is limited :-(

  • Would have loved it five years ago, before there were so many better synth offerings on iOS. Sampled reproductions of stuff I essentially already have didn't seem useful. However it does look like a great tool for those who like the all in one type of app with the effects and all, does look fun. The hype was real here for this at release, then it fell off the radar rather quickly.

  • There is a certain sheen on the Syntronik sound that i can't get into. I only ever bought the Andromeda and Juno offerings but I couldn't stomach the loading times and overall clunky feel of it. I used to have an Andromeda on loan from a friend and it doesn't really get close actually. There are much better synths on iOS.

  • That said I'm really just not a big fan of emulations with the odd exception of iSem.

    No love for Model D?

Didn’t notice the sheen you mentioned but don’t think I ever monitored it except for iPad speaker. Will check it out tomoro.

Definitly better iOS synths for various things but, from memory, for classic type sounds it seemed to be one of the best iOS options to my ears. Admittedly I need to spend some more time with it though...

Same, i rushed through it. There is a sound to it, tried it on a couple pairs of mid range phones, same sound each.

I really disliked model D. Model 15 is nice but it's a synth I'll never be able to own at $30 Grand. iSEM and Sunrizer are the only emulations I've really enjoyed and consistently used in productions.

  • And Sunrizer technically isn't an emulation, just inspired by a certain hardware synth.

  • It is underated i think. Not cheap to unlock everything but cheaper than desktop for sure. I did 5 vids. IK were nice enough to send me a IRig Keys io to review and demo so I don’t harbour bad vibes toward them like some seem to. I do admit pop up ads built in their apps can be annoying at times though.

  • It gets plenty of love from me. It provides those rich complex tones that, as much as I love them, most iOS synths aren’t capable of producing.
My only gripe is I wish when you bought synth in app purchases they came with more presets that were just various raw waveforms that I could build presets from rather than their own already crafted presets.

  • If you're someone who buys synths for the presets, then it's likely going to cover a lot of classic synthy sounds. If you like building your own sounds, then it's not going to do what you want it to. Simple as that. I find it extremely frustrating and the interface left a lot to be desired. Wish the FX were a seperate Auv3, as I really like some of them.

I agree with the above comment on midi channels - it's a bit silly that you can stack sounds, but there's no multitimbral mode.

  • The one thing for which I’m really grateful for is that this entire beast works in my iPhone SE! :) i gotta fix my iPad but so glad to have this awesome app on my iPhone!

One of the best sounding iOS synth imho. Stack 4 different synths. Nicely Sampled authentic sounds.. Decent fx. Pretty Decent filter/drive modelling etc. Different arp/sequence per layer.... no one ever mentions it? I only have the free version but almost endless possibilities. Just haven’t had time to dig in to it... anyone heavy in to it?

    Love it

    Issue is size

Can’t use takes up an immense amount

    Like all IK apps

Not done a way I can use

I have all but not desired storage situation

Model D is great, but it's a one-trick pony because it uses so much CPU...

On the same Air2 that can only handle one ModelD and a few effects @ 256 samples in AUM, I can run 4 instances of iSEM, a butt-load of FX, as well as a drum synth like Ruismaker...

  • Has someone compared the sound from the desktop version to the IOS Version? As the size is so much smaller (only 10 Percent of the desktop size) i'm concerned that you can hear the difference. On the other hand, with the right compression technique it could be possible to maintain the original sound with lower storage.
