iCloud Drive storage hogging in iOS
After a good store and delete session for BM3, I’ve ended up with no gains because at the moment iCloud Drive keeps them files available as they have been used recently.
Is there any way to flush iCloud Drive?
Comments
Have you emptied the “Recently Deleted” folder in the files app? Also, if your device is backing up to the cloud, that storage may be taken up until the backup with those files is replaced.
Yep I flush the recently deleted often. Not quite sure what you mean by the the backup files being replaced? I know the files either show a download cloud or not. According to the iOS iPad storage in settings, the iCloud Drive holds files that have recently been used (in this case it swelled because I used the files from BM3 to check they were the ones I wanted deleted). So iCloud Now shows that the files I sent to the cloud are there, but are not showing the cloud with the arrow beneath, which means they are still on my iPad. As I’ve flushed the deleted files and the iCloud Drive has swollen, they must in there.
In essence iOS thinks its doing me a favour keeping files around for use, when I just want the storage back! Presumably (and I’m guessing what you mean by replaced) that space will only open up if I use more than my iPad has showing as free?
iOS is currently taking up 20+ gig on my phone! Can I get a refund for the cost of the memory I’m now not able to use?
The files app doesn’t read it right! That amount sometimes includes other things such as iCloud Drive etc....and sometimes it doesn’t lol
What I meant is ... my iPad is set to back itself up to the cloud. If it was backed up before I deleted the files, then that backup is still taking up that space in iCloud until another smaller backup that doesn’t include those files takes its place. This might not apply to your situation at all.
I had another thought just now. I wonder if rebuilding BM3’s database would help.
