Can’t believe no one commented, someone must like the app
I do like Dot Melody, but haven’t used it for some time. I confess that I never felt that I got “good” at using it, though it always sounds nice to my ears. Need to re-investigate it. Gestrument Pro seems like a more complex relation to this app - just a thought.
I never heard about this app....until now. So thank´s Doug!
@Cib That’s great, I do think it’s worthwhile revisiting the older apps too
It's nice for creating little melodic sequences; I wish it allowed sequencing of chord progressions too, so that recording midi into other apps like gadget was easier. As it stands chordflow probably has the edge in that respect, even if dot melody has a more intuitive/fun (arguably) user interface.
Thanks for this, Doug.
It did prompt me to dig it out, and now thanks to you, I have a bit better understanding of just what the hell I'm doing with it.
Revisiting DotMelody 2020.. Beautiful..
I’ve recently been using it again too... good stuff
Just discovered and bought thanks to this post - working great in AUM using its own voices or driving my other synths, and as a non musician it has my fave things - constraint to scales and auto generate . Really intuitive to use, and for £3.99 currently, a little gem. Thanks, Doug!
Love this app!. So easy and inspiring. It just flows.
Don’t know why it didn’t get more attention and is discontinued. Would absolutely love a AU3 version, sort of a midi effect to generate sequences and trigger synths.
I never “clicked” with pattering, which seemed to get all the resources.
So yeah, @thesoundtestroom im with you!
I like this one a lot, too.
I particularly like the note shuffle feature to randomize the exiting notes/rests playback order.
I had never bothered with it either, I am not intentionally trying to be ageist, but I think it was the name that put me off it. It gave me a vision of two scatty elderly ladies called Dot and Melody.
Close, but it is just the one old lady.
Dot and Melody are her two favorite cats.
😉
Load in AUM and send out all 3 instruments to 3 separate AUM channels. I’ve gotten a few good tunes out of it. You can randomize, or place dots yourself, so you can get something going easy.
Does anyone have the manual for this? The in-app link is not working - it opens a blank page on their site. Thnx

Thnx, that works @cazel
✌🏿
I am sure if you sit tight, @Gavinski will have another great demo video (w/giveaways!) any minute now.
Oh shoot!
Never mind.
😉
I love popping this in AUM every once in awhile and sending the midi out.
Apparently I said the same thing June 26th of this year. I’m losing it. Lol.
Never heard of this one.
Lovely app.
I hate Patterning, cos according to my baseless assumptions, it killed the development of dot Melody.
It really has/had a huge potential but snotty Patterning got all the attention.
(Patterning is absolutely AMAZING though to be fair)
It’s a great and super fun app. Awesome.
Thanks for the idea.
I will now blame the seeming neglect of my beloved Chordion on Patterning.
Damn you Patterning!
I'd actually forgotten how beautiful and powerful Ribbons is too. The oscillator shapes are fantastic and the whole tone of the instrument is stunning. Such a ridiculously playable app and the design (as with all the ONC apps) is sublimely understated
Love all his apps
The only one I didn't fetch was Patterning 2
Was too close to the release of Patterning 1 for me and P1 still fits the bill pretty fine
Is Patterning only for drums?
No, you can put whatever you want in the cells. It's just a rhythmic sampler.
