Saxanator - New Track

edited November 2018 in Creations

Here is my new track Saxanator made with Loopy and BlueBoard on iPhone 7 Plus. Everything is played/recorded live in one take (with multiple attempts!!), except initial drum and sax loop at the beginning (still my sax), even if they are triggered by foot too.

    Excellent!

    Thanks :)

  • This is fantastic!

  • Loving this!

  • So cool that this is even possible on a "phone". I really have to get one of those BlueBoards and do something Loopy. I do have an old Guitar Pedal that has 12 on/off buttons and a volume pedal that outputs MIDI. I could connect my Yamaha Bluetooth Wi-fi widget and figure out how to make it drive Loopy and save a few bucks. Hmm...

I digress. Another fine Janosax track! Keep 'em coming. Nobody mines this jazz groove space quite like you do.

    Thanks to all your comments @theconnactic @JeffChasteen @rezidue @McDtracy , I really appreciate :)

I plan to do some DAW non live versions of this one with GarageBand iOS and Ableton Live Windows 10, for platforms comparison purpose and just for fun B)

  • This one made me think of Eddie Harris and his electric innovations with the tenor sax.

You’ve got an album or tracks in mind?

I went Googling for the tune hoping a title would fill in the gaps in my memory but his catalog is huge and I didn't find a clue. It's probably just the use of the lower notes in the beginning that are the trigger... something in the tone of the horn that doesn't tend to be featured in the opening. It started with a motif based on 3 notes: root - down whole step - root... with the 3rd note landing on 1. I think he played this motif down low and filled between repeats up an octave or more. So, he sounded like more than one horn before looping was possible live.

I know your tune doesn't do that but the tone of the notes triggered me to think of his "cross over" jazz hit from that era.
