Been fascinating to watch my iPad Pro order wend its way across the globe over as it nears my home! Still looks like I'll receive it today sometime... at least it's in-country finally. Can't wait!!! :p

  • Ditto. China, Alaska, Indiana, Oregon and now Seattle.

  • The surprising thing is that it manages to do that whole journey in a mere 5 days :D

This usually happens when you customize it with max specs as Apple Stores usually don’t have the highest spec iPads like the 1 TB cellular model initially (until much later). They get custom assembled and shipped from Shenzhen (the hardware hub of the world). My Air 2 took similar route originating from Shenzen in 2014 when I ordered it with max specs the moment it went on preorder.

  • Mine is a 12.9 with 256GB... would not have thought this would be "custom"!

  • Can’t wait for you to try plugging in a midi keyboard vis USB in a USB-C hub. Lots of unboxing videos today but not seen anything specifically iOS Musician related. Ideally I want to know if I can still connect my guitar via USB using iRig HD into a hub and be able to monitor via USB headphones simultaneously.

  • Made in Japan, made in Korea, made in Indonesia and finally a Chinese Apple. I want to buy the world a Coke.

Congrats.. looking forward to your review.. that USB thing..

  • Nice Man, your in BC? There’s a few of us on the forum. I’m in Vancouver myself.
You are going to be maybe the first person on the forum to get one!
    Nothing like getting new stuff

That will be the proof in the pudding (or putting) and current audio interface compatibility.

Right after launch, shipments could be based on availability of inventory at local stores. After sometime, we could just walk into a store and buy any model and also check availability of stock at a local store online before walking in.

  • I'm not impressed of that "article"...
Don't forget that they probably get paid by Apple to fix a nice review...
I hate Apple for now on...

Yup, in North Van. Right now, it shows as still being in customs, so I'm really hoping it will get cleared and on it's way to my door.

I ordered it right after watching the Apple event, as soon as the prices were available on the Apple Store app.

  • Houston, the Eagle has landed! Now it's waiting for the restore to finish and then reloading IAPs etc. Happy, happy, joy, joy! :p

Gonna be DLing for a while. All the apps have reloaded now, but I need to get all the IAP purchases restored and then reload project files for Auria Pro etc that I backed up from the old iPad. Then I’m going to check out my purchases of the USB-C audio adapter with charging and the USB-C hub so I can run with wired headphones, my Minilab keyboard and still charge at the same time. Will keep the forum posted.

I’m really hoping that Otterbox comes through with their new Defender case ASAP. This sucker is really light and slippery. I’m so afraid of dropping it! 😱

Well, still have a ways to go to get back to where I was with the old iPad Pro as far as all apps and content loaded, but the good news is the USB-C digital audio and pass-thru charge dongle works a treat! Haven’t tried the USB-C hub yet, but I expect it to work just fine. So I can plug in my MIDI keyboards and SD cards etc, which gives me everything I need.

Man, this sucker is SO fast! 😵 not just getting around, but in how fast it loads and displays stuff. Still getting used to the lack of Home button, but the gestures seem to work pretty well.

Also, coming from the iPad Pro gen 1, the screen is a revelation!

    Great.. keep it coming...🤤

  • The magnets for the new smart folio case are stronger than I expected, feels very secure. New form factor is really nice, I find it easier to hold. Coming from even the 10.5 Pro and the larger screen of the 11 inch is super nice. All my midi and audio devices were detected over usb-c too, nice that I can charge it now just by plugging it into my MBP. Can’t wait for new iPhones to get usb-c too.

Oh, and the usb-c to headphone dongle is smaller than I expected as well, nice.

  • Just an aside, but iFunBox still works great.

  • Loving this new iPad and pencil 2. I went for 12.9. Perfect size finally.

  • So, can you just plug usb to a Desktop PC and midi/audio can de ‘routed’ .... without MidiMux?

You can already do this via IDAM on macOS. You need an app like studiomux for it to work on the PC..

Yep, but MidiMux works whenever it feels like it.. Was wondering if we can do the same as IDAM, but ‘on PC’?

    Thanks.

No. I don’t think so. Windows would need the equivalent of IDAM.

    Check out midimtr though.
