How do you record into a track from sound generator apps in Cubasis 2

Just looking at the different ways to record into a track for apps like SpaceCraft, iVCS Noise Generator etc.

Is there any other way apart from routing via Audiobus into Cubasis2?

Comments

  • Add an audio, not midi, track. Then under routing, select IAA.

@wim If the noise generator app is only AU and not IAA how would you do it. I can’t name the app as it’s still in beta ?

Then you just select it from the instruments list on a midi track. If it’s not showing in the list then that’s something to look into with the developer.

@win Ok cheers tried that doesn’t work, can’t record SpaceCraft as a instrument doing it that way either luckily SpaceCraft is IAA so you have a choice. If you found a way that I’m missing apart from using Audiobus or another 3rd party app I would love to here.

Sorry, I don’t own spacecraft so can’t try.

  • I can see spacecraft as an AU in Cubasis. Look under d for delta v.

  • It can be quite tricky to 'convert' self-playing AUv3's(ie. with built-in sequencers generating the sound) to an audio track. For example if an app has a built-in sequencer that generates the notes & sounds the only way in Cubasis to turn that into an audio-track is to insert an empty region and use 'track freeze'.

So for example to render a Ruismaker Noir generated sequence into an audio-file insert an empty midi-region on the track and then freeze the track.

In the case of Space Craft if the built-in sequencer is used to generate the sound the above trick works.
But if there is a need to 'perform' the AUv3 live and record the audio the plug-in needs to have an option to transmit midi which can be recorded by the host and after the performance is done the track can be frozen.
