Hardware rec out/phones into iPad confusion
I feel stupid not being able to solve this issue..
I recently bought a boss me80 for practicing at home with headphones when it’s not ideal to use my amp and pedal board and I’m very happy with it. I tried to record it into my iPad through my PreSonus itwo and into cubasis but when I record it plays back as though there is a filter on it or some kind of phase issues.
I tried several leads and I even bought a new one but still the same. I also tried having the interface set to both instrument and line in but no difference. If I use the L mono out (as you would to send it to a Guitar amp) it records fine but you obviously don’t get the cab emulation that you do through the Rec out/headphones jack.
Where am I going wrong? If you listen through headphones it sounds fine just not when I record it..

The output you use is for connecting the pedal to a guitar amp, not a recordig device.
Connect the headphone/record out to the iTwo and put the headphones ito the iTwo for monitoring.
Use both channels as line input (not instrument) as the effects and cab simulation are in stereo.
That’s what I want to do mate. If i go from record out/headphones into either input on the itwo set at line level and bring up an audio track put that input on it then the sound is like it’s got a real nasty filter on it. I know it’s not the me80 as it sounds great with headphones
Think I’ve just worked it out, it’s because I’m using a stereo cable into a mono input. What would the normal approach be? I’m not using any stereo effects so do I need a mono 6.5 jack to a mono 1/4” jack or a stereo 6.5 split into two mono 1/4?
Stereo on the ME80 side, dual mono on the iTwo.
Even if you don't use any stereo effects the output of the ME80 is stereo for the ambience/speaker simulation.
Nice one thanks mate
