Latest version on my 2018 ios11 ipad is working good.

Can you play long notes on the bottom of the melodic keyboard?

I will try and report later

I remember commenting on another stroke machine thread asking people to explain why they love it so much. I finally caved and realized the sound and design capabilities really do outweigh the 80s Tron interface.

Yeah, I had a bit of a WTF moment when I first opened it. After a little fiddle it went up to the cloud. Now that I’ve just bought McMillen’s BopPad I’m finding it to be the best synthesised drum partner for it in the whole iOS. That’s pretty amazing for an app released when iPad 3 was the cat’s pyjamas.

Now you got me re downloading.....

  • Carnbot / Littlewoodg Just letting you know, I took your advice and contacted Wolfram. He replied he's aware of the issue and looking into it.

  • Anyone still using Stroke Machine? Anyone tried it on ios15?

    Not sure.

I’m ready to step down as a messiah in this cult. D totally scratches all my SM itches and more.

It wasn’t working as expected when I last tried to incorporate it into my setup. I can’t remember exactly but I had some crashes when hosted in late 13/early 14.

Good to know. I haven’t reached the lip of enchantment with Drambo yet. One day.

Have you tried going into settings/accessibility/display and text size and enabling both increase contrast and classic invert?

  • I barely use StrokeMachine, maybe because I find the GUI quite complex and “full”. From the other hand: the times that I do open the app, I get confronted with i.m.o. one of the best sounding and flexible drumsynths available on iOS. Maybe it does need/deserve some more attention. I’m not using iOS 15 at the moment so cannot tell if it works or not.

  • Stopped using cuz of the messed up gui but now I just fired it and it looks fine. I'm on an older IOS though. It's pretty mean drum machine when you start messing with it.

  • Still hoping to hear from someone on iOS 15?

  • Just remembered this app and it looks to be gone from the store now and I can’t download it. Oh well

  • At its time Stroke Machine was the best groovebox app on the iPad. It had almost completely fulfilled my wishes at this time.

But those days are gone. Stroke Machine awakens nostalgic feelings in me at best. In the meantime, there are far better apps. I will not miss it.

I hear you. Begs the obvious questions; what do you fancy as the far better apps (not questioning you, simply always on the lookout for good tips :)...

Oh yes, while a bit more involved, Drambo replaces SM and some. Long gone are the days when those kind of apps where in any way ground breaking or game changing.

Stroke Machine was mainly a groovebox based on a strong synth engine. So I would call especially Drambo as one of the descendants of Stroke Machine. But descendants is the wrong term. Distant relatives would fit better ;)

Drambo is in a different league altogether.

The only "descendant" of Stroke Machine that I know is Attack Drums by Waldorf Music.
Still available on the Appstore btw.
