  • Interesting... I had been considering the Jamstix 11 but this one goes to 15!

  • Looks really cool, but that ad makes me a little embarrassed to buy one.

    Is it a midi controller for VST plugins such as Kontakt? I would love to test it

  • Just got one of these today. Still working out the kinks as it’s only been a few hours. So far so smooth. Going to be VERY fun. Gotta get the sensitivity of the picking figured out a bit more but other than that - check these out again!

  • How’s the latency and tracking?

    Would love to see a video with iPad connected and perhaps multiple synths too along with the guitar !!

  • @Liquidmantis
    I did a quick hookup to SampleTank using their guitar and organ. Latency seemed fine. Nothing noticeable over Bluetooth even. I haven’t tracked anything yet - but this is where tweaking the sensitivity comes in. I’ve only played for about 10 minutes yet and I’ve gotta find the sweet spot for picking/ muting sensitivity. The cool thing is everything you play is saved as a midi file for later. Digging deeper today.

    @thepinkelefant
    If you check their Instagram they have a lot of videos of people using it with synths. Haven’t seen much iPad so I may try to post a video at some point but it’s going to be a while.

  • Be very careful with the "extremely durable attachment"! Mine broke the first time I put the two parts of the neck together, even though I was really gentle and followed the instructions to the letter. It still holds together fine without the little plastic bits that broke off the mechanism, but it wasn't a great start.

    At the moment the Jammy is a bit limited as a MIDI controller for the iOS musician because it can only be used with the built-in sounds. Bluetooth MIDI is promised at some point, but it draws too much power for a wired MIDI connection, at least on my iPad Pro 9.7". Like the Jamstik range, it's never going to be much like playing a real guitar, but it's a lovely bit of design and I hope it does well for them. I also really like the backing tracks in the free app, which you can use with anything; they're fantastic for brainless MPE tap-shredding with an Artiphon.

  • @Masanga the Bluetooth midi works out of the box today. It is very simple to get going.

    I’m not sure what you mean about as a midi controller and can only be used with the onboard sounds. You can set up midi through the app and actually assign each string to a different channel if you want. It’s pretty intuitive and I had it working in SampleTank in seconds.

    Oh, fabulous – you're quite right! I knew it was in the pipeline; they must have quietly introduced in the last update (or even a previous one without my noticing…). This'll be fun.
