The demo turned me off buying it as well lol.
No regrets, I have more synths than time.
My exact reaction to the demos, too.
Bought it for $2, and am extremely pleased.
I wonder if those higher harmonics do not come across so nice in the demos, making it sound kinda crappy.
IRL, this synth sounds really nice.
Phosphor impressed me with how unapologetically digital it sounds. Typically I don't like harsher sounds - I lean towards more warm and fat sounds, but Phosphor sounds like nothing else.
Bugger - I'll get it next time!
Oh and I discovered (duh) that I can just sweep my finger over the oscillator window and draw the graph in. Then if need be, for fine tuning, could use the apple pencil, or the like. Pretty sweet.
Phosphor 2 is underrated. Had it since it came out and have always loved it. It takes a deft touch to get proper modulation in without things going haywire, but it sounds fantastic when you do.
It really does. It thins out really quickly as you add upper harmonics so you have to be careful. For all of the samey-ness we get with a lot of these synths, Phosphor stands out as being truly sonically unique.
Unique for iPhone. It‘s a hell of bang for a buck (literally). As far as I can tell it is identical to the iPad version only that it‘s just a tenth of the price. The app scales beautifully on the iPad and scales even more effortlessly as AUv3 plugin. Probably the best buck I ever spend on one synth.
I think doing a "setup" in AB with MIDI Channel assigments included (or AUM) and then pointing TC-Data at AB channels (or AUM) helps.
I'm assuming TC-Data can save a setup of Channels so 2 setup loads and you're good to go. Adding AB/AUM functionality into TC-Data would make it more of an AU Host Not a bad thing but like Xequence I think stopping with MIDI as the essential interface makes a lot of sense. Does Xequence load the Synths too or just point to them on channels?
Call for @SevenSystems to give an opinion.
Had it for years, but I've had trouble getting TC-Data to work with AUs since those became a thing.
I think it's brilliant, but the presets don't do it justice, and I've never actually seen any proof on YouTube or anywhere that people are using it to its fullest extent. I admit that I never have.
I think it was still on sale when I bought it a couple of days ago, but anyway Navichord is doing wonderful things for me. Either triggering a sequence in AUM, or just manually hitting the pads, it’s a wonderful thing. It’s already paid for itself by kicking off a new track.
Another standout is EOS2. I tuned a synth arp into a lovely big ambient wash by dialling that in - proper big sound I’ve been after for years,
Some good sales this year - missed a few due to indecision and sluggishness, but happy with the stash I got.
I'd like to add KB-1 to my previous selection.
It was the app I didn't know I needed.
Xequence only points to the respective MIDI app. However, if you load Xequence into Audiobus, along with all other apps, then of course you can start all involved apps at once by loading the corresponding AB preset.
Wow. Invoking @SevenSystems here is like sending up the Bat Signal over Gotham. Thanks! I'll build my test config for TC-Data in AB and see how much I can save for rapid recalls.
I was playing with this last night and wondering how I was ever able to forget how great it is! Blown away all over again and I think it must by my favorite touch synths of all time overall.
"Bubbles"? I can't seem to find this one...
iVCS has a lot of bubble sounds to my ears.
Zeeon is a good bubbler. Think Ozrics...
Picked up iDensity and iPulsaret on sale even though I have a (not very) strict “no more synths” rule. Spacecraft and Quanta have given me a bit of a granular itch, and so, based on the quality of iVSC3 and mood, I picked up the 2 Ape granulars.
In the end, it’s iPulsaret that has grabbed me. Not as intimidating as it looked from the outside. Tons of fun.
