Nice @FrankieJay. How do you like your Variax? I'm thinking now that we have amp and effects modeling software, can a guitar modeling app be down the road?
Also curious on what you think of your apps Gridtar and InChords.
@funjunkie23 - Gridtar is awesome. Big power chords that sound like the real thing. Creamy distortion. Well sampled.
InChords is good for writing your own chords - doing your own tablature and it is very good at that.
Variax is the business. I use it with my Roland VG99 and they are both the dogs bollocks. The Variax is awesome by itself so when paired with the Roland I get some incredible tones and there is also the bonus of triggering midi via the Roland. Awesome tracking and some very dangerous guitar modelling.
iOS amp/guitar modelling for guitar? BIAS has raised the bar in terms of amp modelling but it would be disingenuous of me to compare a £700 or so hardware to BIAS. I love BIAS though and I get to play it with my Ibanez and Washburn guitars. The best of both worlds.
Make no mistake about it, the progress made on iOS since 2010 when iPad 1 was released is one of the best things to have happened to music tech in recent years. We now need one brave soul to build a guitar (a proper guitar) that has the iPad as it's brains and even Satriani would jump into iOS. I know Vernon Reid of Living Colour uses iOS.

Thanks for the insight on the apps and the Variax @FrankieJay.
It is still unfair to compare iOS apps to hardware at the higher price points, but those price points have been trending further upwards. For those who can't afford the hardware, iOS apps gives a pretty great alternative.
What I was suggesting is a Variax style app that would let you plug in a guitar and dial in a strat, tele, LP, etc. I've seen PC software that does that. I'm hoping something exists, or will exist, for iOS at some point.
Variax style app is possible though it might require some kind of interface like a pick up or some engineering wizardry.
There's a second page too, but it's more of the same with different apps.
@uglykidmoe check your email!
@uglykidmoe Is that Sliver app a geometry app or a project without an icon?

@syrupcore I have no desire to see what lurks in that bottomless pit.
@spookyzoo it is an app in beta but the developer hasn't even announced it as far as I know, so I'm not even sure I should talk about it. I kinda feel weird announcing someone else's work. I didn't even realize it was in the shot.
I wonder if the ethical thin to do is to take it down until he explicitly announces the app himself? @Sebastian any insight?
This is one of the most fun threads we've had in ages.
BTW @Sebastian some (but not all) of these pics don't show up on the iPhone... I was just seeing text-only comments until I opened up Safari on my Mac

You should until you ask the developer what they think about it. Typically they want to announce stuff on their own. But then there's hardly a better way to announce something than in a forum thread full of curious people
@uglykidmoe oops, apologies for highlighting that. Call me a nosy bugger!
@sebastian thank you.
@spookyzoo double thank you for your hawk eye. I goofed on that one, not you.
An inspirational pic, with a percussion loop from iSem runing through WOW. Sounds bloody amazing!
Here's my music app screen, many of the folders have multiple pages as I wanted to keep all of the music on one screen.
Somehow I ended up with folders nested inside another folder. I didn't even think that was possible, and I haven't been able to replicate it again. Does anyone know how that can be done?
Mine's pretty basic compared to most people, apps I'm not actively using are just stored in the cloud to be downloaded as needed.

@Tarekith that's a new years plan of mine. Everything must go. Also, didn't realize there was a somafm app!
Mine.
@uglykidmoe Thank you for your letting me know, I hadn't planned a formal announcement just quite yet, but since I do have curious eyes looking this way, Sliver is a new app I am working on. It is a texture / soundscape creation tool. I will make a formal announcement with details soon, I am hoping to release it in early 2014.

My (very reserved) two cents: it's a great app and you guys should keep a look out for it.
@amatheu @uglykidmoe
Sounds interesting. Looking forward to further details.

Just noticing that most people don't seem to put folders in the bar at the bottom (whatever that's called.). Any particular reason?
First, I didn't know that you could add folders to the bottom (task bar ?) so thanks for that tip.
Second, the reason for me not adding folders to the bottom (now that I know I can) is because I reserve that area for quick access to apps I use frequently without the need of scrolling through folders.
Third, I was going to post a shot of my music page but it must be a much larger file than I expected as emailing it to myself is showing very little progress. OK it finally sent:
After deleting everything, and starting again, it's a bit a painful to decide how to organize all these apps
Currently i have following categories: Synths, Groove, Instruments, Effects, Utility, Generative. + Games, Illustration, Visual FX, Colour, Art, Text, Services, Misc. for non-musicmaking apps.
While it's just "those apps" which i consider being still useful for me, i cant help but continue feeling a bit overwhelmed (but "delete all besides most usable" isnt a comfortable option as it's meh to install/delete too often, also considering some apps are older versions) so i gonna uninstall some of them too (lack of space on 16 gb model stimulates that too). I know that my post looks more like "hey guys check me out", but i would be glad if you throw an advice or two at me considering how to reorganize etc
Synths: DXi, Jasuto (might move to "DAW" or "Modular" or "Weird" or smth also because it's my most fav and often used), SynthTronica (abandoned by developer, and eats 200+ Mb space, yet sounds unique with those formants and multitouch filters, i dont think its fully replacable?), iMS-20 (might be "daw" or "groove", to think about it), TC-11, WaveGenerator (i just like it's sound...), Animoog, Audulus 2.x.x (might go to effects as i'm more a jasuto guy but used audulus through audiobus for some weirdness), Nave, TF7, iVCS3, NanoStudio (was in "daw" before but now i m not using it often).
Groove: iElectribe, bleep!Box, iKaossilator, WerkBench, PixiTracker, Loopseque, iMPC Pro (i used beatmaker 2 too), Figure, Different Drummer (might move to generative), JR Hexatone.
Instruments: MorphWiz, ThumbJam, Geo Synth, GlitchMachine, Petites Ondes, CP1919 (might move to "weird" or smth), Curtis (might move to "effects"), Orphion, DrumJam, sinesynth, Borderlands, Samplr, Gestrument (might move to generative), SQRT, TOPLAPapp, RISCy, (also "weird" or "generative" perhaps), Cryptoclash, ExtraSlice, Mega Curtis, Portable Dandy.
Effects: Filtatron, Echo Pad, Donut, Vandelay.
Utility: Little Midi Machine, Audiobus, Loopy HD, GuitarTuna, Thesys, Metronome.
Generative: NodeBeat HD, SpaceWiz, PhonoPaper (yeah, i dont know how to tag it).
I'll name a few things from other folders in case someone would be interested:
From "ILLUSTRATION", well, on previous page there was discussion that iDevices are not pretty good for drawing, though it's perfectly okay for some quick sketches etc. I'm not good with painting on tablets in general (even on wacom tablets for pc haha), but that Paper mentioned above is quick and nice workflow for simple daily stuff, yeah; There are much more serious apps like Sketchbook, Procreate, etc. but i'm not the one to rank them. However, i found pretty useful some vector graphics apps here, like Autodesk Graphic (formerly known as iDraw) which is kind of portable Adobe Illustrator; surely not as much powerful as big brothers, but have enough tools. As for "pixel art", there is freeware Dottable app by some japanese programmer. Also there are some creative apps with strange custom brushes and things like SKTCH (by creativeapplicationsnet), Sumo Paint or Easy Design (by Osamu Sato, who is cool game developer and musician). In "VISUAL FX" i keep apps that change something with visuals, be it filters or custom cameras. Decim8 is crazy for glitch-style things, Pixelmate imitates old 1970-1990s displays, MPro is black n white camera (freeware? dont remember), InstaCRT sends your image to real old monitor somewhere in Scandinavia, takes a photo and gives result back. For basic editing i use SnapSeed. In "COLOUR" i have apps that are helpful to quickly find a needed color in RGB, CMYK or whatever. It may be more comfortable to do it on your iDevice while you work on PC so you don't dive into Photoshop's menus when u dont wanna. Color Expert by Code-Line is pretty helpful as it has pallettes, pantone colors, etc. etc. but i was lucky to buy it in the past, now it's pulled off appstore. There are other apps with similar functional though. In "ART" i put some artistic virtual installations or something like that. I placed "Solo" by ApeSoft (iPulsaret, etc.) here, haha. Some other to mention: Konsonant, Spirogrow, LivroObra (based on real life art project), Word Soup. In "TEXT", "SERVICES", "MISC" i put everything else from YouTube to calculators. As for "GAMES", i used to play them much some years ago, mostly ports of adventures and rpgs from pc and consoles, but now it's mostly just quick arcades that don't eat Time and Space (seriously, i'm not gonna trade 5-7 music apps for one huge game haha) much. Groove Coaster 2 is lovely rhythm game with great soundtrack (it has enough cool songs from different japanese electronica musicians even if u dont buy IAPs). Monument Valley is just aesthetic festival. Bubble Ring Fling simulates your water toy from your childhood and does it good (they even progremmed FLUID simulation engine!). Also, shoot 'em ups.
Come on, has this thread outlive it forever?)
The ipad music apps page(many that i dont need hiding in the folders and should just take time to see what to delete):
Other page is just 3 rows of folders
