Which to get - Ruismaker Noir, new KEW IAP's or KB-1
I have resisted all the sales, not wanting to buy stuff just for the sake of it...I have been tempted by these 3 apps, I have a tenner to spend...which should I go for ?
Is Noir as good as it looks, will I get bored with it's sounds ?
Do the KEW IAP's add enough new sounds to the app ?
Is KB-1 good enough to replace Hardware keys and Circuit pads for input ?
Comments
Noir. No question in my mind. You will get more out of it.
No and yes, no and no. But you need all three. They are all in the legitimate apps there should be no future hand-wringing over. Christmas is coming.
Noir. Come over to the darkside.
Sure, you might get bored with Noir if you don’t like powerful drum synths with streamlined, hyper flexible workflow options, and that also happen to be extremely expressive when played in real time with a controller. 👹
KB-1 is very good and will keep getting better. YMMV on whether it can replace hardware controllers. You could ask yourself: what on screen keyboards/pads come closest to being good enough for you? IMO a lot of the strength of KB-1 comes from how it can be customized + used in any host: having access to up to 5 rows per instance + multiple layout types + multiple instances of KB-1 because auv3. Does that sound like what you’re looking for?
Haven't got the other two, but I'm pretty chuffed with Noir.
Noir - up all night!
@anickt @JohnnyGoodyear @gsm909 @ohwell @MonzoPro @kinkujin
Clear leader already in Noir. It is the only Bram app I don't own so would also help with completionism

I think if left to my own devices I would have come to the same conclusion, nice to get some confirmation though
Thanks peeps
Noir and KEW IAPs and KB-1. Those are my picks. "But that's all three." That's the point.
It's like being asked to pick your favourite child
Why would anybody sane not buy every single one plugin from Bram ? It's not about which of that three apps, it's about which one of rest 2 after you buy Noir
Still... I think of these 3 options the Korg IAP's are discounted until Dec 3.
They take the number of WaveTables from 70 to 130 and have some excellent "songs" in EDM and Ambient styles. If KEW is your jam save the money and get the other 2 at anytime.
KB-1 fills a real need for a keyboard to really learn. Lot's of great features included and active updates in process to lead the pack.
5 rows of string mode layout? Practice makes perfect live.
@brambos apps? Such a good value for your money. Rock solid designs and performance. I don't know how he finds the time to read everything here and code these apps too.
It's obvious to me that he is not Bram Bos but Bram Bot. Man Machine. I work with a guy like this and none of us can keep up. Bram, are you the son of a farmer?
Since KEW is my go to app these days, I'm going to have to go with the IAPs. As mentioned above, they're on sale now, and they add a ton more wavetables that are really useful (I use them far more than the original WTs lately). Noir does look pretty cool though, reminds me a lot of a Volca Kick in some ways. But I'd use that one a lot less than KEW myself.
Can someone put up the link for Kew, my ipad can't find it
Thanks in advance
Noir, although i haven’t even looked at KEW yet. Purposely staying away.
Noir and kew 😁
It's still under 20 bucks, you can beat it
Don't worry got it now
Korg
Worth buying
I like it
