See the Pete Johns YouTube channel. If you use GB it’s a no brainer
Dan Baker should be getting more views.
(Uh, YouTube, not a podcast though.)
I’ve been enjoying a lot of the sodajerker ones on Spotify of late. It’s not music production it’s songwriting but still worth a listen
I just got in to these as well and theres a 124 episodes so a decent back catalog to dig in to and lots of guest artists to choose from. Just listened to the Chromeo one. Its on the iTunes directory so most podcast apps should get it.
I thoroughly recommend Ian Shepherd's The Mastering Show:
http://themasteringshow.com/
Less musical, but there are some really great detailed explanations of EQ, dynamics, compression, loudness, etc..
He is usually joined by co-host Jon Tidey from reaperblog.net
there are 50+ episodes, and I recommend starting from the beginning, as there is a deliberate sequence to the first 10 episodes.
I’m listening to Podular Modcast and The Soundtrack Show
Perfect, thanks everyone
If you like Sodajerker, I highly recommend Song Exploder. Each episode is an artist talking about the building/writing of a track/song, interspersed with excerpts of stems or demos from the track (hence Song Exploder - an “exploded view” of a song, showing its constituent parts), leading up to finally playing the whole track at the end, all over and done with in about fifteen minutes. Very well put together. Try the Fleet Foxes or Cat Power or Jon Hopkins to get started if you can’t see an artist that grabs or, or just pick anything and give it a shot, it’s often fascinating for me even if I wouldn’t be drawn to a track in a vacuum.
Brilliant, thanks. I listen to podcasts every day on the way to and from work, and I’m gonna run our of ‘my dad wrote a porno’ episodes sooner or later 😆
Haha, well I have a feeling you might dig it. Also remember the Michael Kiwanuka and Roots episodes being fascinating as well. Enjoy.
I also dig the "Pro Tools Expert Podcast", just because it's Pro Tools based shouldn't scare anyone off, they discuss general recording & tech applicable to 70% of any DAW user and the PT stuff is still interesting.
There was an iOS Music Production podcast called "iOS Music and You" done by a guy called Chip Boaz. Nice enough guy but the episodes are really inconsistent. He's interviewed some app developers so those are worth listening to for the insight.
"Music Production Podcast" ! I find it super helpful and supportive!

Chip's "iOS Music and You" is very irregular, it appears due to his busy real life, but a nice podcast since it is focused on iOS.
Great suggestions above!
It’s broader than just music production, but just discovered the arts + music + technology podcast by Darwin Grosse from cycling 74. So far I only listened to this one episode with Tom Erbe, which is excellent; they have tons of other great guests:

Remembered another good one: The Sample Study
He shows what samples are used in hip hop tracks and recreates them showing how they are manipulated.
Just started listening to Darwin. Interesting stuff.
How about Sonic Talk? Always something cool there.

The host is an Ableton Trainer so his mindset is closer to many than the Protools/Mastering approach. There’s also one out there that interviewed AB Michael that’s great.
Been listening to this lately and wanted to bump it in case it got lost in the shuffle.
It's excellent practical information, I'd highly recommend this podcast to anyone interested in mastering. Start at the beginning.

I’ve just found this one. I’ve only listened to a few so far but they’re really good.
I particularly liked the nine inch nails episode.
