BTW thanks also for the nice words about these short app previews...morte to come!

iOS apps as memento mori now? Well, I was excited.

    why 3? :)

Because the 3 resembles an E, just mirrored. However, if one took the naming scheme seriously, one would have to come up with a combination of only two letters and up to three numbers.

Thinking about it, I have a pretty simple idea: Maybe "EGSY02 Wavetable Synth". It is a synth after all and would be your second one in the product line, after the Analog Synth which is names "SY01" which kind of implicates that there could be a number 02.

  • Do we get Ramp Up & Down waves as presets?(For PWM when mixing detuned ramp up with a ramp down).
Can we easily 'rotate' the wave on the X-Axis to set the 'start phase' of the waves?

Buttons for 'Flip & Mirror X&Y Axis'?

    Oh and heres another name-suggestion...

    EG WaveMash

Right, I also like something like that, but I must consider also the web and app store search optimization and I'm not sure if the similarity with my other synth is good or bad for that purpose

  • EGShaped, or just Ovoid.

  • EG-Waveshaper.

  • I want an mp3 shaper, not a wave shaper. 96 kb/s swishy quality preferred. Ooh! Or even better, for those that remember Real Audio, an .ra shaper (...buffering...) with vintage performance (...buffering...) Emu- (...buffering...) -lation.

  • Rage Shaper with a silent ga at the start hah

  • WaveBuyBuy
    ?

  • ShaveWaper

  • The HertzHammer

I would believe putting "Wavetable Synth" into the app name already improves searchability by a lot. Search optimization is a whole science for itself though haha. To be honest, I really like your naming scheme, it makes your apps instantly recognizable.

  • WaveShifter, WaveSplasher, PowerWaves, WavyGravy, SynthWave, Elektrik Waves! Best of luck on your newest launch EG! Cheers, Elektrik Diva

    What about Atl?

I love etymology and recall reading long ago about where the term Atlantic came from. I had wondered if it came from Nahuatl (Aztec) origins where Atl means water. But it comes from the Atlas mountains in Northern Africa, later just becoming a reference for Europeans for the whole sea beyond the Atlas.

Favorite word relating to waves I can think of.

Maybe second would be the Spanish word for Octopus. Pulpo. Makes me think of fat sounds and waves.

lol. proud if anything. I am such a nerd reader that I regularly go off on tangents about things...ummm. lets see....most recently varieties and niches of Cnidaria and people remark..."oh so you must be a ____" ...in that case, marine biologist. Nope. Lawyer.

  • @oddSTAR like the HertzHammer...pretty massive

    also EgWav3 is not bad.

@Multicellular I was just thinking about some spanish word, and Pulpo is great too. I like also Atlas

What about some Greek myth like Oceano or Akheilos??

  • edited December 2018

Oooo! Nice. Real actual wavetables? Mini demos sound cool. Like Zeta+ or something. Looking forward. AU3... sweet!

Name ideas: EdGy. WaveFormless. Soundtwistr. EdGy McWaveTwister. Eardrum Ripper. Wave Knave. Kat Scarifier. Buzzsaw-wave. Wave Sharper. Morf from Orf. OrEGinal Synth.

    (I didn’t say GOOD ideas. :D )

  • EG Wav3Morph :)

    Thanks, feels rather super-hero-esque.

What about some Greek myth like Oceano or Akheilos??

Ooh, if you're going that route, maybe choose names of Greek Muses which could apply to a series of apps.
Polymnia (aka Polyhymnia) or Terpsichore are my leading contenders, but a lot of others are cool:

    The Nine Greek Muses
Calliope, the Muse of epic poetry
    Clio, the Muse of history
Erato, the Muse of lyric poetry
    Euterpe, the Muse of music
    Melpomene, the Muse of tragedy
Polyhymnia, the Muse of sacred poetry
Terpsichore, the Muse of dance and chorus
Thalia, the Muse of comedy and idyllic poetry
    Urania, the Muse of astronomy

Hard to know the perfect one without knowing what the synth sounds like...
