That's one fucked up mall you shop at
Yes.
I really like the vibe of it but the bassline is off scale if you permit me commenting on that. I think if you fix it, it's gonna sound pretty good.
Skymall?
Shoot, thats about as close as I could get lol.
It was tricky matching it to the granulated SpaceCraft sample I started with but I think the sounds you think are off may have been on purpose.
Like at 2:30 theres this contrast where the bass line sounds optimistic and happy then the pad comes in and makes it melancholic again. If I used the "proper" scale I feel this contrast may be lost. Or I could just be confused on the theory (entirely possible!)
Appreciate the feedback.
Oh man. Good stuff. Digging that groove.
But aren’t you trying a little hard? I thought VaporWave was made by slowing down old recordings from the 80’s. You went and made a whole new track! You have the VaporWave vibe, but the tempo seems a little high, and your sounds are too good and modern.
Not trying to knock it. It is a great track.
Excellent man !
Yes you are correct, it is not typical vaporwave which is as you describe. That was on purpose however, rather than re-creating what has been done I aimed to take the aesthetic in my own direction. Its actually a pretty evolving genre that constantly morphing and splitting, this track probably belongs in one of the many hilariously obtuse sub-sub-genres rather than vaporwave proper
Take a look at this sub genre list if you want a laugh...

When I saw you posted something with the Vaporwave title, I was sure it wouldn't be generic and boring.
And I was right
sorry read that wrong. My apologies.
Back on topic. I love the hell out of this and have no idea what vapor wave is.

The more I dig the less sure I am myself.
Nice, I like to think of him as Michael Nesmith Producer of Repo Man, one of my favourite movies. Those feelings of late night empty streets and societal disconnect in the movie are actually quite present in vaporwave as well!
Thanks!
Thanks
AESTHETICS! Wonderful. It brings nostalgia.
Vaporwave isn't necessarily slowed down obscure 80s music. Here's one of my favorite music acts in the genre.
Very dreamy:
Thats a lot of music, good stuff. I like how the genre wasnt afraid to branch out from that original stuff that actually started as a parody from what I hear.
I like this lo-fi house variant of vaporwave as well eg:
Nice vibes on this, I like the off kilter bass
@1nsomniak Ha yes, I like lofi house too. Been listening to a lot of podcasts with lots of synthwave, vaporwave and other stuff. Vaporwave definitely started out has a parody. I've heard some funny stuff where they mock up some obscure 80s commercial (from anywhere) and just patch them up. Some of the vaporwave I've heard was just a big wash of sound drenched in delays and all. hahaha
A good plugin if you wanna try out: https://xenakios.wordpress.com/paulxstretch-plugin/
Try stretching something up to x20. Knight rider theme or something. It's hilarious.
@paradiddle I actually re-installed the old paulstretch stand alone app a couple weeks ago! Didn't know there was a vst version now. Have not used it in a song yet, Ive gotten similar effects with SpaceCraft though, was thinking of combining both. Are there any synthwave/vaporwave podcasts you would recommend?
