Keep it plugged in?
makes sense but everybody's always talking about doing so much on the go, how is this being accomplished
I’ve seen people using GarageBand on the bus.
Will see how I will use my iPhone 8 once I get it...
When making heavy cpu music on my iPhone 7 Plus, battery can go from 100% to empty in less than two hours, sometimes even less. Using less intensive apps can leads to 4 hours battery life. I always have a charged powerbank with me, with a X2 lightning adapter for charger and headphones. Also, that powerbank or wall plug should not provide more than 1 amp to avoid iPhone heat/cpu throttle. From my experience, all of this is not a such big issue, as a two hours session is enough. Making breaks is good. When I don’t use it, I always charge my iPhone when possible in case I need to make music again.
Yup.
I’m having this issue even after replacing the battery on my iPhone 6 a couple of weeks ago. The battery will run out if I’m doing heavy music making on the go so I carry around a small portable charger for those days.
Maybe I need to try one of the Apple smart battery cases:

I also do all the usual stuff recommended to save battery life as mentioned here:

And also keep the screen brightness low.
I wonder if the latest iPhones last longer.
Yup.
Or just figure on a 30-60min session (to have some battery left over).
I can usually get a couple solid hours of work in on the phone before I have to worry about battery life, though that is admittedly with more self-containted apps like Groovebox and KEW. I'm pretty fanatical about keeping my phone always charged though, and I also upgrade every year or two as well. Those little USB battery chargers are brilliant for longer on the road (or air) sessions as well.
I don’t use Gadget. But honestly I’m more on the couch than on the go so I can plug it in. Also I use standalone apps, one at a time usually, like KEW, GR-16, etc
Gadget is still easier on the battery usually than hitting near 100% regularly in AUM on the CPU - that eats my battery like crazy as opposed to "merely quicky" from Gadget.
I see, yeah I'm looking to forego the external batt packs and such as I do that already too much with my hardware beat machines etc so I guess the lesson is for on the go no muss no fuss iPhone projects take standard power precautions and just live with a 2 hour expectancy..
I have a special machine which powers my phone when I fart. I can go all damn day after a single wall charge and an Irish breakfast.
My battery life STINKS in comparison.
