As long as they finally fix the bug with the rendered audio always being too long (silence added), I am happy.

I always trim my audio after Freeze. I more worried about things going out of sync when looping stuff...
But yeah, it's a bit annoying extra-step that should be fixed.(it could for example auto-trim the frozen audio).

The Steinberg forums mention that an update will come before Christmas and that's not too far off :D

Lars confirmed (well, that's a first!) that the update would include the new iPad Pro 2018 resolutions including the Liquid Retina with rounded corners. These iPads currently leave Cubasis shrunk with a dark border around the screen. Not sure what else is included.

Competition is good for consumers. NS2 sets a bar on features for others to catch up. With their acquisition of MusicStudio’s IP, their feature updates should be expedited as they confirmed.

Your pronouns are ambiguous: Whose acquisition of MusicStudio's IP, Steinberg's? Or Blip Interactive's? And beyond that, what does that mean? What is MusicStudio known for?

And as for the imminent update, we're all basing this on @LinearLineman's very general post. (For which I'm grateful, don't get me wrong. I'd just like @Lars to arrive and say the update will drop by Christmas. :))

I wasn't clear enough. Steinberg acquired Xewton's IP

    https://www.steinberg.net/en/newsandevents/news/newsdetail/article/steinberg-acquires-xewton-4772.html

Lars already confirmed on Steinberg forum about pre-Christmas update (they are usually secretive like Apple but this is an unusual confirmation):

Actually, that's a terrible primer. I pasted it too quickly. So needlessly complicated.
This is better, but I'll keep looking:

Apparently, Steinberg had to expedite an update because of the new iPad Pro 2018 with rounded corners resolutions and Cubasis doesn't look professional when it displays shrunken. A serious business like Steinberg would resolve the issue ASAP

AUX sends are already there. Busses aren't though.

well i suppose what people mean is aux sends that actually have a return channel so we can eq, level, pan the return etc..
BUT with the genius Apematrix buss au ( and previously the more fiddly woodman plug ins ) we kind of already have the Bus ability.. so whats needed is perhaps more fx slots on both the sends and the inserts to make up for having to lose slots using these great plug ins.. “ the newer iPads can take it Captain! “
maybe being able to select post/pre fader on inserts or sends might be a cool leap forward?
@lars we love you whatever is in yr secret santa sack! 🎁

Fair enough, I guess a real bussing system would allow for that since you could bus the AUX to a dedicated channel.

  • I tend to think they’re promising a release date because it’s mostlly to fix the screen issue. There may be a little goodie or two, like chained midi effects, but don’t get your hopes up for much more yet. They probably don’t want to spring big features right before a holiday and the staff is away. Love to be wrong, though.

it’s true, obviously an integrated buss set up in cubasis would be better and possibly more reliable into the future ( you never know when apple might snafu au protocols with some update ! )
but the apematrix au is so nice.. just put one on a cubasis send .. send any track you want to buss into it. make a new audio track, put another apematrix send/receive instance on it ( this time on the insert ) and magically it recieves all those sent tracks...
of course it isn’t really a true buss set up, mainly because the cubasis sends are firmly fixed as post fader at the moment.. so you can’t mute those sent tracks and ONLY hear them on the bus channel :( .. kind of like NY style compression, the dry signal will always be audible.
but it is useful and it also mitigates the lack of fx slots on the sends as you can use another 3 insert fx on the return audio channel.. in fact there is no limit to how many insert instances of apematrix returns you can have of the same sent signals on new audio tracks.. so it opens it up nicely for those with newer ipads with cpu to burn and allows you to do things like have two returns panned separately left and right with different eqs and fx on each side..
hats off to the apematrix man! ( and mr woodmans maple syrup stuff who got there first )

Thanks a lot. Actually, the first vid didn‘t help me at all. The second did.👍

  • Always obvious basic bonehead stuff missing from Cubasis most of which NS2 as well as Stagelight has inherently .

    That's helpful.

  • I wonder if @thesoundtestroom has any game ch....ahem, paradigm shifts to alert us to.

  • As crazy as it might sound I would be happy to pay IAP to get the Yamaha REV-X Reverb baked into Cubasis :)

The REV-X reverb is part of the built-in DSP effects on my UR-242 and they ship as plug-ins for the computer so why not iOS too?

Yeah, I’m hoping that with increased competition, Cubase will now look at including this sooner rather than later.

  • Hey everybody it’s @LFS , not @Lars.

  • I just think there’s always that “Cubase ceiling” hanging over the head of Cubasis, much like GB and LPX.

  • I really wish they'd implement shared copies of events in Cubasis...

  • Would love Link and start/stop when loaded in AB3 or AUM

YES! I've been requesting linked parts for ages. As well as automatic part looping.

Xequence and NanoStudio 2 have these features and it makes linear composition so much easier.

  • Now if those Xequence blokes finally added an adjustable grid to the arranger, part looping would be so much more useful ;)

(no, trust me... I'm on it!)
