Yep it's great.
It should be close to Pro2 10.5 with half the RAM.
I'm still hesitating if this or 10.5 or the new 11. So far Pros seems to have more problems than actual performance increases, while this one seems like another sweet spot (like air2 was).
Yeah the performance issues with the Pros is what made me get this instead. I can get it to choke but in my real world use cases (BM3 with one or two AU instruments and 5-6 au FX, and Quantiloop with 6 au FX) its smooth sailing.
I just had 8 different AU synths playing in AUM and a Kosmonaut on every channel and no crackles. But then again 4 instances of Sunrizer is all I can run at once. Diversity in synth usAge is crucial I guess, if you want to have a super crazy multichannel aum jam going.
i have the 6 and think it is fantastic. for the price the performance is exceptional. i plan to use it for another year before upgrading and think it will be just fine. i used my air1 for two years before this one and this is leaps and bounds better.
Model D is often used here as reference. Could you guys please try how many instances can it run @256 / @512 buffer.
Thank you.
Extremely unscientific testing gave me: (Using AUM as host)
With a buffer of 256, 4 Autony driving 4 Moog Model D. No crackles as long as nothing moved on screen. Even simply scrolling turned into a mess.
With a buffer of 512, 5 Autony driving 5 Moog Model D. No crackles even when scroling AUM left and right. CPU around the 90% mark.
Wow... That's quite impressive. I think I'll get one of these soon, and hope apple will sort out the mess around its pro line in the next couple of years.
Thanks for testing!
No probs. They definitely do deliver a lot of bang for the buck. You can make the second test crackle but it was surprisingly usable. The pen was a big draw for me too.
