Thank you @wim for the video link

Any idea how to import and slice breaks in this thing?
Anything like Abudabi in Gadget?
Gracias mi hermano
Can I export stems into Auria Pro from Stagelight as easily as I can in NS2?
Looks like your question was answered before you asked, easy to miss. Even if you load a Rozetta AU, without support for MidiFXit won't function properly, at least to the best of my knowledge.
It's one of the big factors keeping me from using Stagelight or NS2 as my main song creation app.
@Thardus : Didn’t I see somewhere that midi au was coming in NS2? What is your main song creation app now? I’m guessing Cubasis ?
Not fully correct. AU midi already works in NS2 for many purposes. There are some limitations though:
All of these are easy to work around using AudioBus midi out into NS2. So, for NS2 AU midi is possible. For Stagelight, not yet.
@wim : Has Stagelight announced that its coming at some point. Also to reiterate my previous post what about exporting stems to say Auria Pro from Stagelight. I know NS2 can do it like a champ. Can this be done in SL as well?
I dunno. I think maybe?
Umm. OK, not sure why you couldn’t just check it out yourself since you own the app, but ...
From the timeline: Menu > Song > Export > Mix Down Tracks Separately.
Ok, thanks.. I’m still not sure what’s up or down on it, that’s why. I’m still playing around w loop mode , etc. Again thanks !
It did take a little hunting since the export option is grayed out in loop mode. -cheers
Ok, good.. Now I don’t feel so bad, lol
I still can’t figure out how to export a mixdown to AudioShare.
When you mix down a dialog for the iOS Files app pops up. Select a location under AudioShare for the mix down file location.
This is what pops up.

Is there any kind of takes/lanes system for comping on audio tracks?
Whut? Nothing pops up for me, just a place to name the folder. It ends up in the files app > On my iPad > Stagelight > Stagelight User > Mixdowns, and then can be copied into AudioShare.
What iOS version are you on?
Me?
12.1
No sorry, @jolico.
I’m trying to figure out the reason that wierd popup asking for the file location.
I’m seeing an option to export midi files when I long press a midi pattern. But not to export audio when I Long press an audio pattern. I know I can export stems in NS2 .. I hope I can do it here and not be stuck in Garageband sandbox hell.
OK, I’m in loop mode and indeed the export icon is grayed out
Which makes sense when you think about it.
iOS 12.1.1
Well, that’s wierd then. Either you’re following different steps than I described, or ... or I dunno. It should be the same for anyone.
Any one else experiencing strangeness when copying and pasting midi clips in loop view? Haven’t completely figured it out but sounds like things like gains and effects dry/wet mix are getting reset.
Do you have recorded automation going on in those clips?
Sorted it. All seems ok.
There's a raft of great features that NS2 will get at some point in time, I'm sure. It's all ready an astoundingly dense app, and I'm sure it will be getting the promised features as fast as Matt can add them.
As for Cubasis, I have it, but every time I try to finish a song in it, I end up feeling like I might as well use the desktop version, or Logic, etc.
I know everyone has their own style and preferences, but personally I fell in love with creating music on iOS for two reasons:
I can make music everywhere I go, capture ideas when I have them, sample weird sounds when I hear them, and be productive in situations that were traditionally just time to kill.
Things like waiting in line, awkward social gatherings, commuting... these have become mini studio sessions.
The insane, beautiful, bleeding edge ways IOS developers have created for making music.
The fact that I can hum a melody, draw it into Xynthizer, then send it to Quantum to mangle ir, play it backwards, flip it upside down, speed it up, throw all the variations into Fugue Machine and then have Xeqence automagically separate and record the midi, it's just mindbowing for me.
I'm sure there ways to do that on a desktop, but not as quickly, easily or in such inspiring fashion.
Using AUM or apeMatrix allows us to chain almost any synth, effect or generative app, and use them to make what could be described as super modular sound manipulation. Or Meta-Synthesizers™️, if you will.
Unfortunately I have yet to find a way to easily record and arrange the parts the emerge from this. My dream is for AUM, Xeqence or AB3 to add a timeline for putting the (audio) parts together.
To conclude that long-winded explanation, apps like Cubasis seem like a progression backwards, as they are just crippled versions of desktop apps.
Stagelight has managed to be multi platform while still capturing the some of the magic of iOS. I haven't gotten too deep into NS2 yet. I like it, and things could open up once it has audio tracks.
Ideally it (and Stagelight) will have some kind of AB3 or inter-app compatibility, but until then they won't really fit into the sandbox style of production that I consider to be a huge part of the appeal for iOS music production.
@Thardus: That was beautifully written. I think it’s pretty sage to say that Stagelight will get Ab3 this year. They’d be crazy not to. I’m slowly learning Stagelight thanks to Doug Woods’s videos as there is still no proper manual .. Next NS2. I think between those two apps I should be set along with my newly Fab Filter tricked out Auria Pro , not to mention my new Apogee mic +.
