Brusfri - reuse noise signature

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the noise signature from a file in Brusfri and then open another audio file and have it use the signature from the previously opened file?

I recorded the noise/hum at the start of a guitar session and made several recordings from which it needs to be cleaned but only one of the files has "just noise"

  • The 'noise profile' is part of the preset so as long as the host can save a preset you should be good to go.

  • This must come up a lot, and you would think they would’ve added saving temporary noise profiles by now. I’d contact the Devs and give them a nudge. One cludgy fix you could try is merging all the tracks before import, but what a pain.

  • If you use the File Player in AUM, and run it through Brusfri, you can get the noise profile from one audio file, and switch out what file is playing back while keeping Brusfri settings the same. It will use the learned noise profile for any audio files you then load into the File Player.
I suppose you would want to record these processed files as new, noise-free versions.

@Samu @CracklePot but what about standalone mode? I’ve also been using my au hosts as workaround, but for the standalone I’m in the same boat as @espiegel123

From what I've understood Brusfri is meant to be used as an AUv3.

But hey @sundhage sometimes drops by this very forum so maybe preset management is something they might consider adding to Brusfri in the future...

  • @Samu , @ohwell , @CracklePot , @aaronpc : Thanks for the tips. I'll use it as plugin as workaround. And, I'll contact them to suggest that they allow this when it is running standalone. For this particular use-case, standalone makes the most sense to me, but I can workaround it.

Well, I suppose you could copy a sample of the noise from the file that has it, then paste it onto the end of your other files, and then use that to relearn the noise profile every time.
    What a pain though, right?

In this case that won't work. Only one of the several files has noise without music.

When you use it in standalone mode, it appears that the noise signature is reset whenever you open an audio file. So, I have one audio file with the noise signature, and two or three that have the guitar but without any signal that is only noise. So, I need to use the noise signature that it gets from "file 1" on "file 2" and "File 3" neither of which have any standalone noise to sample.

Sure, if there is enough noise only to grab the profile.
I think OP only has the noise on one file though. I assumed he may have trimmed the other files already, or something like that.

  • I've sent a feature request to Klevgrand support. I suggest others that hope for the same feature also contact them.
