Which apps seem to have the best midi implementation?

Just thought I'd throw this out to see if there's any consensus, and possibly to point the other devs that direction.

Would be great if you added a poll to this.

Edit: if the polls can list multiple choices :-)

  • ChordPolyPad is a super example of well implemented MIDI. Yes indeedy. Oh mama.

  • I thought about a poll but there are so many apps that support midi that I didn't want to limit the options. I'm thinking of doing a poll after we have a few candidates narrowed down.

  • Your vote only counts once Morris! ;-)

  • i would put down Loopy for it's clock sync... i'm sure there are apps with more midi features and stuff, but Loopy is so rock solid with clock

  • Depends on what you mean by 'midi implementation'. For clock: Loopy and Funkbox. Funkbox and LMM for ease of use on the settings page! Magellan has really broad midi control settings. Thumbjam is a general hero.

  • I'm gonna have to go with MidiBridge. ;-)

    Obviously SoundPrism Pro. :)

3D motion mapping to MIDI CCs

MIDI-through, so you can filter SoundPrism's own MIDI before sending it to it's own audio engine:

Finally SoundPrism can do something that few other instruments can do: send MIDI notes to a different MIDI channel for each finger:

  • I like Thumbjam, Thesys, Midibridge, Apollo, Funkbox, Lemur, Magellan, Arpeggionome Pro, SoundPrism Pro, Nlog PRO, Guitarism, iFretless, Jam Synth, AmpliTube, Animoog, Geo Synth, TB Midi Stuff, Logic Remote, and MidiBus.

  • App most in need of midi? Reactable

  • Makes sense re: polling...

My favorites are ChordPolyPad, liking MidiBus more and more each day, and, I have to say Cubasis. It's excellent integration w/ its midi tracks and IAA & AudioBus pushes Virtual Midi towards the level of desktop DAW functionality, IMO.

  • Cubasis - the routing is really simple and you can get it to work with almost anything. Compared to Genome, which I used previously, it's very simple to set up.

  • @Sebastian
I like the the dog playing Sound Prism at the end of the first video! Ace.

  • Thumbjam and Soundprism. I also love StepPoly and ChordPoly. All great apps honestly. It's awesome to be able to have faith that an app is going to work re. midi since it can be a trial and error process sometimes.
