Mellotron and Mellotron XL in the App Store
Ok, so wanted to let you guys know about Mellotron by developer Markus Resch. I was looking over Mellotron options in the App Store, found this one. Although there are currently no audio or video demos, I did read that these are the original sounds. This company has also been manufacturing hardware Mellotrons that have been used by some prominent musical artists. So that in and of itself is a good sign to me! There are two versions of the app, Mellotron for $1.99 and Mellotron XL for $7.99. I picked up the $1.99 version and I can tell you it is a great sound. This has easily replaced another app. The sounds are authentic and genuine, there are 6 sounds in the basic version. XL has 18 sounds and some extra features, I am planning on getting this one as well. The developer is currently considering Audiobus and midi, so any support we can send his way will be well invested. If you have a couple bucks to spare get the basic version. I highly doubt you will be disappointed!

I am curious about these apps as well. Markus has been servicing mellotrons for years all over the world and also designed and built a modern hardware version, which is amazing. I believe he also can make a custom tape rack for your vintage mellotron. Sound wise it should be really really good, but the other apps may be a little ahead with their midi and audiobus support already included. I have super manetron 2 and it is a very faithful recreation.
