The Bedhead producer's plans for 2019

So I took some time away from here to do some soul searching, some brain storming and trying to figure out how to make a place for myself in this world that both satisfies me, entertains others and if at all possible helps people.
I am very passionate about IOS music and apps, and making music in general, but I also need to find a way that I can finally be a full time musician in different capacities and make a decent living so that I have no more sleepless nights when life has it's plateaus. So part of my new plans are going to be dictated by me, as I know what I'm good at and what I have to offer in some respects and if these aspects don't interest everyone, so be it...but I'm not just going to only do requests, I'll never be completely happy...HOWEVER a large part of what I do daily will eventually be request driven, inside of the scope of things I enjoy and can do or will be able to do well and they will be broadcast on my youtube channel with little editing..

I'll explain all of this more as I go along, but a main them will certainly be "keeping it real" so I'll be exposed and editing less, but I will try to edit out the dead air so it's not excruciatingly slow. . What I've decided to do is going to be more along the lines of the Truman Show while teaching people stuff. I'm not going to start off with cameras everywhere, but by the time I'm finished there just may be cameras everywhere and people will be able to peak into my life when they wish, but I'm not sure yet. I think sometimes my life is very very interesting, other times It's normal and even boring, but I I'm capable of being interesting, I have a lot of crazy history I can share over time, I've learned how to do a lot of things in music production and writing and how to be creative so I'm also going start teaching classes on learning how to produce and write, how to take ideas and turn them into finished pieces and how to use many different types of software as tools, as rut busters, as a way to be diverse and sell you the skills you will be learning to the highest bidder....what you do with what I will teach is up to you.
I'll be broadcasting band practices, recording sessions, philosophical discussion, interactions with my music friends and lots of live video conferences with the ability to interact with me. On apps like meet me they have people broadasting live with a box in the upper right where people can participate and interact via webcam, so I'm going to figure out how to do that but on a different platform not in a social dating app...lol.

I'm also going to start soliciting patronage and do things for my patrons first....like give them all of my music for free or for a very low fee, like a year before anyone else gets it....I'll have some things for the general public and to try to get new patrons, but my patrons will get my presets in all the devices I use, will get to learn all my shortcuts first, will get discounted rates for any services I'll be providing, like the online course I plan on teaching. I have a new solo record I've finished, that is mainly guitar based. I have another albums worth of remakes and stuff where I sing, and I'll be taking request...but I've decided I'm going to start by giving away my albums ....and I'll start here. By New Years day, I'll have a new album for free that anyone here can download for free, that I'll also put in the digital stores so I can be a part of the subscription models of people listening to music without having to buy albums. Then every month I'll have new songs for my Patrons, who will vote on what i should record next, both original and remakes, that I won't give to the public for specified amount of time and I'll figure out as we go along ways to make it worth being a patron.

So Im going to be branching out. I know how to do a ton of stuff on PC and on guitar already so there will be some patrons that are mainly interested in that, but I'm not going to abandon my IOS bretheren. On the contrary, I'll be continuing to learn new software every day as I do, except you will have the ability to be there with me while I'm learning and also learning...often in real time. I think people will enjoy interacting more and giving suggestions based on what they want and need instead of me always deciding what I should dish out. I'll be splitting things up into segments that will happen consistently on different days of the week but I will be generating lots and lots of content...on video. If you live in the east bay area , northern california and would like to intern with me or call it a mentorship program and you have video editing skills , would like to be more creative and productive musically, then get in touch and we can talk about having you on board as regularly as you have time...but we're going to make it a show, as unique and entertaining as we can and the show starts...........as early as the next few day, as late as the beginning of 2019, but It's going to snow ball and I think it will be fun and I'm looking forward to keeping people on the edge of their seat wondering what I'll do next. Oh and I won't limit what I teach to just music. I'll teach all of what I know, which also includes making videos , and different platforms, like pc desktops as well....it's all going out there now...for you the public. So if you are interested in signing up for my classes or just want to be informed what it's going include, send me your email address and I'll keep you posted and you can at the same time suggest what I can do that would full some of your needs, stuff I can help educate you on, simply of motivate you to do. I wish I knew a short way of saying what I just said, but I've barely begun speaking, from my point of view. This will have me...very ,very busy, but I think it will be fun and I"m going give away all my tricks and secrets and I mean all!

Well, I have a Patreon site I signed up for a long time ago. I need to log in and see what's up, but I'll post that soon and I suppose I'll have to mention it in my videos. The good news is if people are a patron they can make requests and steer the course of my song writing. I'm pretty prolific so I will be giving away a lot of free music. I finish about 4 albums worth in different genres a year. Sometimes less , sometimes more i also compose background music for TV, so I'll be talking about that and showing what that is all about. I have placements on a lot of reality shows, since that's what my publisher specializes in. I also am way more experienced on a desktop in production so I'm going to start giving out those tips and tricks as well. Thanks for your support! I'm never going to lose my love for synth sounds or guitar.....for very long at least....and I'm old enough that even if I don't like a genre, I'm willing to write a song in a certain style to at least do to it, what I wish someone else would but hasn't. Sometimes that turns out well, other times it doesn't...lol.

Yeah, for guitar shredders looking to cross over into Electronic music there’s no one better .

Thanks so much for the vote of confidence!

Also, it's funny, I've never thought of myself as crossing over to anything. I think it's more about adding branches to your tree than being a chameleon and changing your colors.

The thing is you should record what you want and do so much of it, that it never binds you up creatively or pigeon holes you. What I mean by that, is at one time all I knew how to play was 80s guitar based stuff, and in the 90s I actually had a difficult time joining any bands because all of my peers who were in a similar boat tried to put 80s riffs where they didn't belong or couldn't play funky or soulfully, which I have no problems with. It was frustrating at times as well to be called over qualified, meaning they thought I was going to play too many notes, but that is not what makes music fun to me. Simplicity is actually fun live, because I can move around and be a ham without having to concentrate so hard to avoid mistakes.

I even taught myself to downpick when originally I was taught (by the prevailing school of thought at the time) to only alternate pick and not waste energy, but If you don't break out of the box you will lose opportunities for jobs and learning experiences playing with different artists who require a skill set you don't have for their music.

The other thing is people who are narrow in the scope of what they know how to play and compose often have an agenda. They have these left over ideas in the genres they learned and are often dying to use them somewhere before they die. If you do that in a new band and it' s not appropriate and you get butt hurt when they say no...well, you may find yourself looking for a new gig very quickly. I've never had that problem but I've met many, many musicians who do have these odd riffs they insist on always bring to EVERY table that will let them.

The solution is to always record stuff on your own as well as with people. Get those ideas out and documented. You can bring them forth for other projects if they fit and the other musicians agree your parts are killer, but if they don't, don't let it bother you. Besides the fact that I don't see myself as any kind of crossover artist, I've been around long enough to see many "New" styles emerge and be called hip and cool, but the truth is none of them were actually completely new. They were all a hybrid that hadn't hit yet and now were being called new. So if you are ever going to be revolutionary, it will be by learning many different styles and genres and intertwining them at different times in your life and when a shitload of people say, "wow, that's really cool, I've never heard that kind of a hybrid before" stick with that for awhile and hopefully you aren't to the table too early...because that can happen too. If you are way too ahead of your time, you will be innovative in the dark, by yourself and nobody will care.
