Yamaha Corporation to Acquire Line-6

Comments

  • That could be good news for the further development of the mobile pod app.

  • Not sure of what to make of this. I own a Line 6 Variax guitar and I love its playability. The modelled guitars are a big bonus. Yamaha? Their customer relationship is not the best; they don't seem to have a human face. With all their iOS apps, I don't remember them ever being on this forum. Still, it's a big deal with them capturing Line 6. I just hope they bring guitar modelling into iOS. Now that would be awesome. @funjunkie27 - maybe your dreams will come true :-) with guitar modelling on iPad.

  • I personally love the sounds that are capable with the Line 6 mobile pod app. I think the lack of support for the product is the main reason it wasn't as successful as it ought to be.

  • Could be a good thing, fingers crossed they don't screw it up.

  • That would be the best outcome I could imagine @FrankieJay. Given Yamaha's track record for support and less than stellar sounds, that might not be a good thing though. Maybe some cross pollination between the companies will help though.

  • I think it will be ok, Yamaha has been pretty hands off with the companies they've acquired lately.

  • I've used Line 6 stuff since the very first pod and I must say their tones have never been up to snuff and I think they even made me lose interest in playing guitar for a while....!!

Now I have an Axe-FX Ultra which is as musical as it gets for digital, but I just wanted to say don't underestimate what we have on the iOS side. Jamup and Bias are much higher quality modeling than anything Line 6 ever put out in my opinion.

  • Hehe, I'm a Line6 HD user and my buddy is a Axe-FX guy. We're always having the which is better debate LOL.

  • Haha well I gave up on line 6 well before I got the Axe-FX. To me that would be like comparing a palm pilot to an iPhone 5s...not even in the same league. I still have three pods though they make great doorstops.
